Posted by Bob Deich Unfortunately, the name Macgregor appears only for a James Macgregor from Portland, OR. He served in the 324th Inf Regt which was formed in Feb of 1943 with cadre from the 71st and 114th Inf regiments. The 114th was from New Jersey. At time of call up of the 44th Inf Div in September 1940, there were 2 regiments from New Jersey, the 114th and the 113th. The 113th was reassigned to the Eastern Defense command and if my information is correct was sent to Camp Rucker, AL. Also checked the database for a first name of Enos. There were none. You did state the person you are interested in served in the 44th in France, which could mean he was a replacement after the division arrived in France. I helped a person with a similar request. He mentioned a certain river crossing which led me to the 44th Armd Inf Battalion, which was a unit of the 6th Armored Division. The 6th has a web site and in it I found reference to the man being sought. Do you have any papers such as discharge papers or pay statements that have more information we could use? Please answer me directly to my email address. It makes it much easier for me to maintain files on the searches I do. Bob Deich
