Roy Clifford Scheer was a distant cousin of mine (his mother and my grandmother were sisters). He was born near Hooper, Nebraska but the family moved to California at I time I do not know. His mother was Laura Leona Johnson Scheer, also born at Hooper Nebraska. She died at Glendale, California in 1943 according to the records my father left me. Roy's father was Gustave Carl Scheer, born in Germany in 1882 and died at Alliance, Nebraska in 1969. Roy's sister Leona's son still lives near Alliance. His other sister's name was Joanne, she passed away a few years ago, I believe at Hemingford, Nebraska. I recall seeing a photo of Roy in his uniform at Leona's home when I was a youngster.
