I need some help. I am tracing my genealogy, and have hit an early roadblock. While researching my father's military history (as written in our familybook by my mother), I found that he served in the US Army in the 44th infantry. He was deployed to Korea (Chun Chon was what was written). However, all the web info I am seeing shows that the 44th Infantry was a National Guard Unit in Korea, and that there was a 44th Engineering/Construction unit there also. My mother and father are both deceased, and I do not have access to any other info other than vetrecs.
I don't want to waste my time researching/copying false information, and I also don't want to record info on my father that is not true. Any help would be appreciated. Also, if there are any Korean vets that served in either 44th, please contact me . My father's name was Leon Leamen Williams, grade E-4.
