Harry uses the password “sherbet lemon” to be admitted to the staircase near Dumbledore’s office, although it is actually “lemon drops.” Maybe Dumbledore changed it again. In Book 1, in the very first chapter, Dumbledore offers McGonagall some sherbet lemon drops while they discuss Voldemort’s defeat, because they are his favorite candy. The password really should be the name of this sweet.
This is actually only confusing in the American version. In the English version it says Sherbet Lemon in the first book, but the American version is changed because they thought americans wouldn't know what it is.
Secondly:
Snape awards and takes away points from the different houses even though no House Cup was to be given out that year.
Only the Quidditch Cup was cancelled. The real mistake is not showing who won the house cup at the end of the book.
