Unless I'm mistaken, here's the mother of all mistakes:
Voldamort's at the plate, it's the bottom of the 9th. He tries to kill Harry and "dies" in the attempt. Strike 1.
Harry destroys Riddels Diary. Strike 2
We must assume another piece of soul was used to resurect Voldey, in the Goblet of Fire. Strike 3
Dumbledore destroys Voldey's ring. Strike 4.
The locket is missing from the cave and may be destroyed. Strike 5
The Hufflepuff cup represents strike 6
The snake, Nagini, strike 7.
The unknown horcurx? Strike 8
That's 8 pieces of soul, not seven.
