Here's an easy idea for some of the older language kids (2nd-5th). I like to make a "getting to know you" questionnaire. I include questions like "What is your favorite FILM" or "favorite LEISURE activity" - they don't usually know that vocabulary so it's a good way to introduce it. I use the new vocab in a sentence/example and have them infer what it means. I also include something like "If I were an animal, I would be ____ because ________". When they've completed the questionnaires, I read out loud the answers to each one and everyone tries to guess who wrote it. The kids really seem to like and they learn without realizing it! Make sure to fill out a questionnaire on yourself too.
