Have you tried talking with your SLP? I am sure if you asked her for somethings you can do at home she would be more than happy to give you some homework for him. If she is not, I would probably talk to her supervisor or try to get another therapist. I am a SLP and I also have a 2 year old in the early intervention program for Speech. His therapist always sends home homework for him to work on plus gives us ideas of what to do at home. I give all of my students parents homework and ideas also. Because he is not going to generalize what he learns in therapy if you do not carry it over into the home. Home practice makes a lot of difference. I can tell with my own students the parents that work with the kids and the ones that don't. The ones that have supportive parents always progress much faster than those that don't.
P.S. If he is able to ask for things that he wants (i.e. milk) Make him ask for it. Don't give in until he asks or at least makes an attempt to ask. If he just says "milk" model the phrase "I want milk" and then give it to him. You could say "milk! you want milk? "say I want milk" He doesn't have to say it right then, just hearing the model is good. Then soon he will catch on.
hope this helps.
