HELP WITH SYNONYM ACTIVITY

I am working with an 11 year old boy who has a reduced vocabulary and finds it very difficult to describe things, particularly in narrative. I would like to work on synonym to build his vocabulary and meta skills. Just wondering if any of you knew any good activities for synonyms?
