Last year I used a similar set of wind up toys with one of my students to elicit final consonants based on the action of the toys (hop, jump, zip). I combined them with a set of cards that I had printed up with pictures of the toys. One day, my wind up toys mysteriously disappeared. I had to think of something fast.I still had the cards, and my student was familiar with the words,so on the spot I changed the game into Wind up Clinician. My student's production of final /p/ improved considerably when her correct production could send me zipping or hopping across the room.
