I do a lot of figurative language tasks with H.S. You could give them idioms, similes, metaphors, etc, have them pair up and draw pictures of those fig. lang. concepts taken figuratively vs. literally (e.g., raining cats and dogs: a pic of cats and dogs coming out of clouds).
