I have a great activity that works for long/short. You could make this activity with lots of different themes depending on the time of year but I used flowers for spring. I made flower (or you could get some fake flowers) and made some with long stems and some with short stems. I talked about things that are long and things that are short (e.g. pencil verses tape measure or snake versus bug) then I laid a flower with a short stem and one with a long stem out and asked children to hand me a flower with a X (short/long) stem. I also put the flowers in a vase and had the children pick a flower and tell me if it was long or short.
