If you are referring to Spatial terms, Boehm (1989) indicates the following (which are in order from earliest to latest development): beside, in, in front of, next to, on, over, out, under, on top, between, behind, below, above. It may be more meaningful to your middle school students to create a list of concepts they need to know based on curriculum material and then present it before it is actually covered in the classroom. The math curriculum is a great place to start.
