I'm a new CFY and I am working mainly with the birth-3 population. I have a lot of little kiddos that haven't had to use their words before therapy and getting them to talk in our sessions is like pulling teeth. Most of their goals include increasing expressive vocab and 2-3 word utterances. I'm continually educating the parents on the imporantance of not reinforcing the tantrums, but the process has been going very slow. In the mean time, does anyone have any ideas for getting these kids to talk? I get so many dirty looks from these kids it's starting to drive me crazy. We play games they like, but when they are required to say phrases like "more please" or "all done". They give me the look and refuse to play. Also, around what age can you start using a timer for staying on task and attention?
