Montreal area players, mark your calendars! On Saturday, June 14, 2008, the Chess Championship of the Northeast Kingdom will be held in Newport, Vermont, at the City Hall. The event will be in two sections: 1. Open to all players; 2. Open to players under 16. USCF-rated. Travel time from Montreal is about 2 hours.
Entry fee, $20 for Section 1, $15 for Section 2. $5 discount for advance email or telephone registration.
Non-USCF members may obtain annual or tournament-only membership on site.
4-round swiss - Sec. 1, G/45, Sec. 2, G/30. Sec. 1 rounds: 10, 11:45, 2, 3:45. Sec. 2 rounds: 10, 11:15, 1, 2:15. On-site registration 9 - 9:45.
Sec. 1 prizes: $100, $50, $25, $25 to best 1400-1599, 1200-1399, 1000-1199, under 1000, and unrated.
Sec. 2 prizes $75, 50, $25, $25 under 800, $25 unrated.
Championship and Jr. Championship trophies for best performances by Northeast Kingdom (Orleans, Essex, Caledonia Counties) residents in each section.
