Rev 19;10 " Then I fell down at his feet to worship him, but he said to me;
' Do not do that! I am a fellow servant with you and your brothers who hold to the testimony about Jesus- pay divine reverence to God.
For the declaration in a matter of fact or doctrine [ testimony] about Jesus is the SPIRIT OF PROPHECY."
Seems to be a way of recognising false prophets which are very flamboyant, yet there is no truth.
Also a reminder, for me, that the truth is a fact which speaks for itself without needing embellishment.
Would be why Paul states that the witness of the cross is all there is to the truth.
1 Cor 1;17,18 " For Christ did not send me to baptise but to preach the gospel, and not with eloquent wisdom, lest the cross of Christ be rendered ineffective.
For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing,
BUT TO US WHO ARE BEING SAVED IT IS THE POWER OF GOD."
2 Cor 1;12 " For our confidence is this, the testimony of our conscience,
that we conducted ourselves in the world with simplicity and sincerity like that of God,
and NOT with earthly wisdom, but by the grace of God."
May He pour out that spirit of prophecy more and more as He leads us along that path of righteousness.
