Posted by DK on 1/8/2002, 1:19 am Posted by Dave Kenady on 1/4/2002, 3:28 pm I spent a couple of days last week working on a new page for the website that will enable any volunteers to input Chapel tapes that they would like to make available to others. I'm up against the edge of my knowledge of HTML, but I think this will work, at least for the interim. The page will e-mail me the info and I will transfer the information to a spreadsheet page which will be accessible to all. Ultimately, I would like the whole thing to be completely automated -- (instant posting of new tapes, in other words), but this requires some CGI scripting and probably some database software to be running on the server. If anyone has done this before and/or knows of an online database service we could use, let me know. Yahoo Groups has a free database feature that just might fit the bill, but I'd have to set up a whole Group site in order to use it.... kinda like buying a whole new car so I could have a CD player. At any rate, be on the lookout for this new development. As far as using the coop, I envision a page that will list tapes by speaker, date, tape length, title, owner/email, etc. The interested party would get in touch with the individual by e-mail (listed with each tape) and make arrangements to borrow the tape or have a copy made (probably the best procedure would be to send the owner a blank tape). This means an effort on the part of both parties, especially the owner who will find him/herself making tapes on a regular basis. But, he, that's what it was all about when I worked as a tape duplicator at the Chapel -- it was fun knowing the tapes I was making were being sent out all over the world and that people were making use of them. Tape COOP is ONLINE Posted by Dave Kenady on 1/5/2002, 10:56 pm , in reply to "Tape Coop Update" Check out the new Chapel Tape Coop pages. The link is at the top of this page. Soon it will be included on the main menu page. Let me know if there are any problems or questions.
