Posted by JR on 1/6/2002, 6:52 pm Posted by Eric Halleck on 12/16/2001, 5:45 pm , in reply to "Re: Considered" Hi Dave, First of all, forgive me for implying that anyone who believes they are going to be raptured is pious in their thinking. That wasn't the thought I wanted to convey, rather I was speaking in very general terms in relation to "worthiness". I'm going to mull over what you have said for a while. I see your points, but I also don't, if you know what I mean! On the one hand, I see where the Lord has presented an offering to some to escape all the things he spoke of. Yet on the other, there is fire ahead, and they are...what? Unworthy to escape? Something just doesn't click with me on this. I'm not living in anyway special that deserves any respect or reserved consideration. I appreciate your kind words, but if sinful nature, and unworthiness, is a cause for missing the rapture, I'll be here a while :) I guess my view is this: The scripture does clearly say that our hope is to be in the resurrection. This is my target, and come what may between here and there, I'll only be able to endure by the grace and mercy of our loving Father and His Son. Thank you for your thoughts! Eric ---------- Further Reading about the Manchild and the Rapture Posted by Dave Kenady on 12/16/2001, 11:23 am , in reply to "The "Manchild Company"" Craig Bleumel, a graduate from CCBC has written a good paper on this subject and explains the doctrine quite well. Link: The Manchild Ministry ---------- Thanks Dave. This was the kind of stuff I was looking for. Posted by JR on 12/16/2001, 2:00 pm , in reply to "Further Reading about the Manchild and the Rapture" Dear Dave, I think I understand a little more clearly now of where you guys were coming from at the Chapel. I am in agreement with about 88% of what you guys taught. The other stuff is fairly insignificant, except for what we are to be watching and waiting for. I believe that the Bible is fairly clear that we are to be watching and waiting for Yahshua's return, both as a thief in the night, and in power and glory in the clouds with his angels. I just don't forsee his coming as a thief in the night as the taking away the troops from the battle. I DO believe that there will be a LOT of miraculous things happening in the next few years. I believe that a good part of it will be part of the "strong delusion" that God will send to try the saints. At the same time, I believe that there will be a people who's love for Yahshua will be so deep and their commitment to one another so strong, that with faith working through love, they will overcome the enemy. I never related it to Rev.12 until now, because I was not taught this by any man. Those who overcome the world and the devil are mentioned quite a lot in the New Testament. These clear references is where I draw most of what I believe, for they don't require a lot of interpretation. Romans 12, 1 John, and Ephesians is where I recieved the teaching of the "overcomers". If we follow Yahshua, and lay down our lives for one another, we WILL without a doubt overcome the enemy. And by the way, you said earlier "I haven't done (expletive deleted) for the Lord in 13 years!". I don't see this as being true at all. This board proves otherwise. The vision of overcoming the evil one is still in you. Reaching out to the wounded in the spirit is a very honorable work. Thank you for keeping your hope alive. I am one who has been touched through your effort. JR ---------- a note to Dave Posted by lanny on 12/17/2001, 2:25 am , in reply to "Re: Considered" You state you haven't done ---for the Lord for 13 years. I have to laugh. How about pastoring an on-line church? Yes, that is what you have been doing here. And I might add doing a fair and balanced job of it. Making spiritual decisions about the direction the board goes, adding timely and very thorough teaching, and being encouraging and uplifting. Yes, Dave you are ministering and I hereby ordain you as Pastor of the board. Ordination is merely the public acknowledgemant of the call and gifts that God has placed in an individual. That has been clearly seen for some time now. This board has ministered to many people in many ways. Keep up the good work. You probably aren't ready to be called, "pastor Dave," by any of us, but the title fits and I believe 100% that God has used you and this board for an important ministry. Love, lanny ---------- EXCUSE ME! Posted by JR on 12/17/2001, 12:54 pm , in reply to "a note to Dave" Lanny, Dave started this board to glean from a field that you helped destroy. Now, you come along and say "Yes, Dave you are ministering and I hereby ordain you as Pastor of the board." So, let me ask you a question: By your "ordination", are you still assuming authority over him, are you admitting to past mistakes and recognizing him as an equal, or are you submitting to his authority by recognizing his example to follow? I realize that you were simply trying to encourage Dave, but this is an issue that must be dealt with. Respectfully, JR OH COME ON!! Posted by Matt Geib on 12/17/2001, 2:15 pm , in reply to "EXCUSE ME!" Brother You can't be serious?!...can you!!? You are asking/saying Lanny "helped destroy the cc field"? I went thrrough that demise as well & I must say what happened there was not as simple as you have stated it. Many factors came into view in light of the cc downfall....& I am sorry to have to admit that I believe all of us who went there (or many of us) were to blame if not in outright acts of sin & rebellion then sinful attitudes we held in our hearts. I think you need to be careful in how you judge Lanny & others. I am sure Lanny is not saying he is still an authority over David, rather he is expressing kind words of encouragement. As the sriptures have said "A mans's gift makes room for him" & this is what I see David doing here. He has a "gift" of being able to bring folks together & to discuss issues in a non threatening way so as to put folks at ease....yes I would say part of his "gifting" is Pastoral shown by his patience, love & concern for folks. IMHO Matt Ditto Posted by Steve B. on 12/17/2001, 2:38 pm , in reply to "OH COME ON!!" I think it's evident that Lanny's remarks about ordination were entirely tongue-in-cheek, JR. I probably have as many theological differences with Lanny as anybody on this board, but even I can see that his posting above is not grounds for mounting some kind of assault on a theological or spiritual flaw in his views. You need to relax a little bit, in my opinion. ---------- What is the issue? Posted by Chris W on 12/17/2001, 5:04 pm , in reply to "EXCUSE ME!" JR, you write: "I realize that you were simply trying to encourage Dave, but this is an issue that must be dealt with." What is the exact issue you feel needs to be dealt with? ---------- Brother JR Posted by Gordy on 12/17/2001, 5:55 pm , in reply to "EXCUSE ME!" Dear precious brother and friend: I think it would help if you better understood some history about Lanny. For one, he has been the the ONLY past elder of CCBTC to have shown his face here and take some heat. I even gave him a little. He has withstood several swipes directed at him while maintaining a humble spirit and more importantly, has continued to encourage the brethren, pointing always to the One that gave and gives us the promises of hope and faith. This brother has gone through fire, like all of us. We have all fallen short of the glory of Yahweh. Lanny has not only gained my forgiveness but also my renewed respect. Lanny is an encourager of the brethren. He has readily admitted to mistakes he made like a real man of God should. I have never seen Lanny tear apart a brother or sister for any reason but he encourages and has manifested temperance in all things. You must understand that he was responsible for building the faith up in the body at the Chapel and elsewhere. I know I benefited greatly not to mention eternally from his ministry. I had a very pointed decision make years ago. I had to choose between harboring unforgiveness and bitterness or letting it go. I realized that harboring any bitterness was not hurting those I came to despise but was only killing me. When I finally broke and let it go I could only be thankful the Lord was faithful even when I wasn't. That is my testimony. Lanny has been like gravity in pointing out lessons to be learned by everyone including himself. In the course of doing so he brings encouragement to those that need it and challenge to those that aren't even aware of their need. Even Lanny's post to Dave is an obvious encouragement (as you acknowledged) if one looks objectively from knowledge of this dear brother. I know Lanny and I am confident he had no high minded motive as charged but was only encouraging a brother in the faith. God has dealt with Lanny as He has and is with everyone that attended that church. I see more faith coming from this brother now than before. His faith has been tempered with grief and trials along with many years of accumulated wisdom. I am confident, evidenced by what I have seen here of Lanny, that Yahweh is dealing with Lanny and I feel no need to help other than to remit encouragement to Lanny. This builds the body rather than tearing it down or rubbing salt in wounds for which Christ paid the ultimate penalty. As I said before Lanny, keep encouraging the brethren to find, hold on to and walk in the promises of Yahweh. He will indeed bless you as you bless His. Gordy
