I know I have a kinship with G. Warnock. Without the HS giving present day anointing and revelation Christians will read the words off of the page without a spiritual understanding of what is said. This is what happened in Christ's day. The learned scribes and Pharisees had the words on the page but rejected the truth that those words conveyed under the revelation of the spirit. Another example is "the Bible Answer Man." Sadly they know almost NOTHING about the truth. They constantly refute what God is now doing in the church. I used to believe God's Word was spiritual and agree with it as it was taught at CC. But it was more of an intellectual agreement. I now have experienced it to a much greater degree. Four years ago I had a life-changing experience. I can only say I was in some kind of spiritual communuion with God. It was about as close to a trance as I have ever come. I was before the God of heaven and He was asking me Bible questions. I did not come close to knowing the answer to any of these questions. The bottom line was this: I believe that God PROMISED me that I would know the answer to these questions and many more like them. That is, He was more than willing that His spirit "would lead and guide into all truth..." It would no longer just be something that could be understood intellectually. His spirit would reveal many hidden things and I am sure this applies to every Christian that seeks God for it. I am telling you by revelation to wait on God in His Word and YOU will experience His word. If you think back on the teachings of Christ, they are full of sayings that are and were highly objectionable to those listening with their minds only. This is the way the Bible is written. Now I know that revelation is not going to come to me without my active participation. Yes, I will have to TAKE THE TIME to wait on God in His Word and allow His spirit to move in me. Let me give an example. The tone of voice does not come off of the words on a page. "Desire earnestly the best gifts." I know one commentator who reads a sarcastic tone in that command. He interprets it thusly, "You carnal Corinthians; you selfishly desire the best gifts for yourselves. God doesn't want you to seek after gifts..." Thus, with that "tone" you can interpret the passage as a rebuke for doing it not a command to do it. That is just one example. There are many other types of things where revelation is necessary for a proper understanding. I have been Spirit-filled for over 30 years now. Oddly, I am now less certain that I understand things than when I was first saved. God is much more of a mystery to me today than back then. The Bible is far more profound to me today than back then. I am actually awed by how amazing the Bible is. I am way beyond the point of wondering about some alleged contradiction. If I were to read and meditate on "The Lord is my Shepherd..." It might take me 30 minutes to get beyond the first 2 words. In fact, I have stopped for some time on just the word "the." The impact, the revelation, the very truth pounding in my mind and heart... It changes your life. The realm of God can become more real than this life. It is as though an enormous voice is reading those words to me echoing from eternity. You not only read it, you feel it... the awe of it... the majesty... the splendor... words so exquisite they transform you... words that have power... as though you were on Mount Sinai hearing the voice that broke the rocks... the words go right through you... you can feel them in your chest... you have the actual realization that God is speaking to you... these are God's words... they are absolutely true... you know that you know that you know... you can visualize the story, the characters, their feelings, fears, hopes, etc. I am not saying that this will be 100% accurate. We are still on earth looking through a glass darkly as it were. But it is far more accurate than had we not had any experience at all. I write this for those that can hear it. Taste and see.... What a refreshing "take" on the scriptures and their profundity. I am listening, and I appreciate the opportunity to feel a stirring deep within. I know God is working in my life again and it is a sweet thing to feel His presence and have His word jump out at me. Lanny Have You Thought About Toning Down Your Posts? Posted by Author Unknown on 11/7/2001, 6:22 am , in reply to "Quote by Warnock" Your making some of the more complacent among us look bad! PS: I'm at New Heart every Sunday for the early service, I look for you but I never see you. The usher Bob C. Jamie Hanson and Joe Parker. either are reading (Ride the Ark) or have read it. I believe the publisher would like to see other ministers standing with me in this calling. I could still use your help Lanny. With your understanding I'm sure you'll agree with the general premise. ---------- Posted by lanny on 11/7/2001, 2:29 pm , in reply to "Lanny Have You Thought About Toning Down Your Posts?" Sorry to miss you. I regret to say that I am not up very early and with 3 kids we barely make it to the 11 AM service. Maybe I will see you between 10 and 11 sometime.... Lanny ---------- PS Posted by lanny on 11/8/2001, 11:24 am , in reply to "Lanny Have You Thought About Toning Down Your Posts?" I have just learned that you will be hearing me this Sunday.... ---------- Re: PS, I will be there with bells on Posted by Author Unknown on 11/8/2001, 6:59 pm , in reply to "PS" IÂ’ll be there Lanny, I sit as close to the sound mix station as possible in the back north side of the church. IÂ’ll be the one saying amen to every other word you speak! Wow, IÂ’m excited knowing IÂ’m about to here a sermon preached by my favorite teacher. Praise God. I promise you, I will spend one hour in prayer Saturday night, praying only for your Sermon, that you will have liberty in the Spirit so that our Church will be edified. This is a great Honor. Wow. ---------- Thanks Posted by Lanny on 11/11/2001, 5:37 pm , in reply to "Re: PS, I will be there with bells on" Thanks for the kind words. Did I miss you? What I said was a shorter version of what was brought Wed night. Wed nights Jamie and I have been talking about Sept 11 and what the Scriptures might be saying about this time in history. I have been impacted by the events of Sept 11 and all parties involved. I was asked to bring it in about 15 minutes Sunday morning. It was very hard to say something that I had already said. I generally felt good about Wed. I struggled this AM trying to say it again. Anyway, I said it as best I could. Lanny Posted by Author Unknown on 11/11/2001, 8:02 pm , in reply to "Thanks" Dear Lanny, I am so sorry. I was not feeling well enough to come and hear your sermon. I have been having breathing problems lately and this was not a good day for me. So I bought a tread-mill today in hopes of increasing my health. I hope to attend church next week. Sincerely, Richard Bruce Kelsey, AKA Author Unknown ---------- Posted by lanny on 11/11/2001, 11:08 pm , in reply to "Re: Thanks" Sorry to hear that! Hope and prayers that you are getting better. lanny
