In the meantime, I would rather live in the United States than anywhere else in the world. That tells my story and I am sticking to it! ---------- well said Posted by lanny on 10/6/2001, 7:11 pm , in reply to "I Am Looking For.........." A hearty Amen to that. Rick Joyner said concerning y2k, "If your treasure is in heaven you have nothing to worry about." Lanny ---------- Posted by Marvin on 11/2/2001, 4:06 pm , in reply to "well said" A hearty amen to Rick Joyner's statement, "If your treasure is in heaven you have nothing to worry about." But as for Richard’s comment... “In the meantime, I would rather live in the United States than anywhere else in the world...” I just have one little footnote to add to it: I think if he were one of the people who have a hard time finding a good job in the United States and if he suffered from not being able to afford the material things in life he needed and wanted, and lacked a social life in the U.S., and everybody squinted their eyes at him and said, “You’re just not diligent, brother. If you were a good Christian, you’d have a better job and make more money than that, blah blah blah...” but then an opportunity arose for him to have a great job overseas that he loved, that afforded him a life of wealth and luxury, and he was able to have there the whole circle of his friends, family, relatives, maybe the romantic relationship he desired, and everything in life he wanted... I think he’d be singing a WHOLE different tune. So that tells MY story and I’m sticking to IT! And by the way, what’s the point of this comment, anyway? From the point of view of the gospel, what’s the point of coming on this board and bragging about how glad we are to be in the situation we’re in and not the situation other people in this world are in? What does he really think that’s supposed to accomplish for the Kingdom of God? I suppose he also wants to say: “I Am Looking For.......... ...my new glorified body in heaven. In the meantime, I would rather be white than any other race in the world....” Yeah. Well said. (If you happen to belong to the Nazi party....) ---------- Posted by Eric H. on 10/6/2001, 10:39 pm , in reply to "I Am Looking For.........." Agreed! However, too many have become comfortable here in "Egypt," and have lost sight that we are "strangers and pilgrims on the earth." Those who say such things declare plainly that they seek a country, that is, an heavenly. "Freedom" has had a major threat presented to it. All who don't stand on the side of this "freedom" are considered evil doers. Day by day the words ring louder and louder: Choose you this day whom you shall serve..... Eric ____________________ Posted by Richard E. on 10/7/2001, 4:00 pm My guess is that we probably agree when we get to the heart of the issue. If the U.S. is successful and the Taliban is overthrown AND a more legitimate government is installed then my hope is that Afghanistan can have the Gospel preached within its borders by true born-again believers. The liberation of Afghanistan only for them to be liberated to serve a false god is truly no liberation at all from an eternal perspective. I agree with that. Most of our government leaders probably only care about fending off terrorism. Most are NOT truly concerned about liberating Afghanistan (or we would have done this earlier) and very few, if any, are concerned about about opening Afghanistan to the preaching of the Gospel. Still, my point is that God may well use all this to open Afghanistan to Christianity through true believers much like we saw with the Soviet Union and the end of the Cold War. There is enough judgement to go around for every nation and THAT DAY WILL come. In the meantime, God works to spread his mercy to the "uttermost ends of the earth" where it has not been heard before. Judgement will come to ALL nations and peoples but don't pray for it before its time, pray for mercy and time! ---------- Agreed Posted by Eric H. on 10/7/2001, 5:33 pm , in reply to "Response to Eric" What I see happening is a middle wall of gray areas of where lines have been drawn before Sept. 11 being replaced by new lines as dictated by the major parties involved. Christians just nned to be careful where they draw their lines of allegiance, in my opinion. Posted by Dave Kenady on 10/8/2001, 6:38 pm , in reply to "Happy Birthday" Thank you for being such a blessing in my life and my wife's life. By the way, speaking of my wife, thank you sweetie for sneaking that one in there. What a blessing you have been to me with your simple, yet profound, unconditional love for me. I am feeling particularly blessed right now. Though the Lord has often seemed far off in years past, I have been reminded today that He is never far from any one of us. And we are never far from each other, especially with Jesus in our midst. Thank you everyone for your participation on this board. It has been a source of healing for me over the years. And I am constantly being reminded that that which God has put in me is not willing to depart. Sometimes I am amazed at how much I can feel love for the Lord when I have been so separated. It gives me hope that God is not finished with me yet and that in my life, there is yet another day to dawn. Let me be the first...well, have a happy one. I am about to celebrate another anniversary of my 39th birthday. I told my wife I refuse to celebrate my demise. I refuse to be any older than I look (or act.) I am old enough to know better and young enough to do it again. Well, when you are over the hill you pick up speed. That is sure true....
