Posted by CB on 10/4/2001, 10:52 am I agree I have just as much or more problem with UPC Oneness theology as with the Trinity, they both obscure extremely important truth the Bible contains on this subject. The reason the Trinity is better in my opinion is because my experience has shown me that (probably) most Christian Trinitarians believe the truth deep down inside, they just couldn't articulate it. The Bible is generally (except when expanding on the Trinity) preached in a manner that conveys the truth, our minds understand language as it is presented. The logical conclusion is that Jesus is somehow someone aside from God ("My God my God, why hast thou forsaken me") and it has been established throughout the Bible that there is one singular personal God, etc. When we stand before God Christians will be aware of the truth, they will probably be amazed but not entirely surprised (my guess anyway). Actually I haven't sat in UPC church, maybe the same is true there. I went back and forth with someone from CC on this issue on this board a while back. This person believed and had always believed Oneness almost identical to UPC. It seems the Chapel had a bit of a mix. I had my first UROG class with Earl F, I took the next two classes on tape a few years later, the first with Mark Y, the last with Lanny and I've listened to Russ M., they all seemed to be on the same track. So I'm not sure why this person believed as they did. On the other hand we always lumped ourselves with Oneness camps, so if a person was to dig into Oneness literature I suppose they could've gone in that direction.
