Posted by Richard E, et al on 10/4/2001, 10:27 am I have been away from the board for a while and it appears that everybody has gotten into some major debates. I am glad to see my good old lost, but recently found friend, Brian Brookbank, on the board. Brian was one who never withheld his viewpoint and I guess he has not changed! I probably disagree with Brian on some issues but I welcome him back. Brian, remember when we disconnected the one girl's battery cable while she was in the tape library so that I could meet her? ---------- That sounds like a pretty mischievous thing for Chapelites to do Posted by Bill Engle on 8/30/2001, 5:55 pm , in reply to "Wow, Major Discussions and Mr. Brookbank" (Sounds like something we might have done—if we had thought of it.) Well, now that you've posted it on the board and aroused our curiosity, how did it turn out? ---------- Posted by Richard E. on 8/31/2001, : pm Well, I must speak the truth. She was not impressed even though I fixed her car for her (connecting a cable is rather easy) and she never went out with me. She later found out that we arranged the whole episode and I remained embarassed for some time. But as God would have it, I met my true love two years later and we have had a happy marriage with three kids to this day. ---------- Feeling Bad About My English Reading Skills Posted by Brian Brookbank on 9/5/2001, 2:12 pm , in reply to "Wow, Major Discussions and Mr. Brookbank" Dear Richard, I guess Dave did not like my rebuke. Anyhow, I was telling a friend about the car ruse this weekend. We went to Corpus Christi w/ my 6 kids and their 4. It was a great time. As i remember it the girl, a long lean blonde would not give either of us the time of day. She had already turned me down three times. The plan was to pull her starter wire and then have the two of us happen upon her in her distress after she left the tape library. I was going to crawl under her car at your manly, controlled direction and you were going to give me pointers between small talk with her. I think there may have even been hopes of offering her a ride home. In any case, about when we started the "repairs" her brother showed up and wrecked the whole thing. ---------- Posted by Brian Brookbank on 9/5/2001, 2:24 pm , in reply to "Feeling Bad About My English Reading Skills" Dear Richard, Because of my poor English reading skills I inadvertently sent the last post. Remember dating resumes? How about the time we went down and got ice cream, cookies, and assorted other treats and dumped it all onto a cookie tray and pigged out? Remember your first night as a checker and us coming in and blacking out the bar codes on all our food? One of my all time favorite quotes was when we were working out and a certain unnamed roommate was slacking and made some kind of excuse/apology and you said, "Well that is just a manifestation of your spiritual walk." Truth is not always fun but it is always truth. And remember the room mate, the same one, who had his leg prayed for and said "Praise the Lord, I'm healed." and ran out the front door, down the hill, and across the street and ended up on crutcthes for months? We did have some fun. My dad is moving to Albequerque in a few months. Let me know what kind of insurance you do and I will send him your way. Also, when we see him, we will look you up. Tell Carol "Hi". food ---------- Those Are Some Great Stories Posted by Richard E. on 9/6/2001, 5:57 am , in reply to "Re: Feeling Bad About My English Reading Skills" Did I really tell that poor brother that his slacking off was a "manifestation of his spiritual life?" Geez, no wonder I have been humbled. Bring Pam and the kids to Albuquerque anytime. We would love for the whole bunch of you to stay with us. ---------- Posted by Brian Brookbank on 9/6/2001, 3:30 pm , in reply to "Those Are Some Great Stories" Dear Richard, When Pam and I visited about you this weekend the one thing we both remembered like yesterday was a time that we were at the big house by the airport and we were talking about when Pam and I would be married with kids. You said you could just see it- "Honey, look out! Put everything up! The Brookbank kids are coming over!" Though it would probably be more fun at times if they weren't, the kids are quite well behaved. It is less exciting but more peaceful and conducive to Christian development, not to mention absolutely necessary as Pam homeschools the whole pack! Richard, it will be a pleasure to see you and your lovely wife and kids. Also, please give me some info on the needs for personnel in your tape missionary ministry. Can this be done short term? What are there requirements for participation? Your friend in Christ, BB
