Posted by DK (AU) on 8/11/2001, 5:17 pm PART THREE: CONCLUSION-VISIONS AT THE COA or how I Learned to Love the Bomb Tuesday, 25-Jul-00 10:52:11 “You’ve got a right to be nervous” (Don Barnett). If I had never heard-The Visions of COA-then my life might be comfortable and I could have slept soundly in ignorance. I may have said in a dream “Oh let the blanket of darkness cover me-and never, put me under the spotlight of discretion again.” However, now that I have heard of these visions as they were shared from the pulpit at the COA I believe it is necessary that I share two of them here on this board. In the first place I am not trying to alienate myself from anyone at the COA. I will prove this by the tone of my posting. If this board is a place where we can look into relevant teachings openly then no one should have any problems with examining two visions that COA members had. I did not take notes when I was there, also I am giving a condensed version, therefore this account will be a somewhat inaccurate but it should be good enough for our discussion. VISION ONE: DON LEADING THE FAITHFUL STRAIGHT DOWN THE ROAD One member saw a road. In the middle of the road was Don along with about 25% of the COA members. Many of the others were wandering all over the road. One member stepped on the shoulder and was immediately swept off a cliff. VISION TWO: DON DRIVING THE BUS SAFELY INTO THE MOUNTAINS In this next vision: members of the COA are seen boarding a school bus. Don is the driver and he drives them safely out of the cities into the mountains. I also listened to many other visions that evening and in every one Don was the Hero. He saved the World, got the girl and then rode off into the Sunset. I was left with the impression that the church was clinging to Don’s guidance in a manner that is not often seen in the church world at large. Posted by EricO on 6/10/2001, 6:37 pm , in reply to "ONE MORE THING ABOUT THE NIGHT I VISITED THE COA -- Part 3" I should have listened to the others from COA who posted in the past not to waste my time on this board. I'm sorry that I did'nt. The opinions of those who post here are set. This board is almost entirely anti-COA. Posting anything contrary to that here is just not "Politically Correct". “I was shocked at what I saw-it did not bear witness to my spirit. In fact, in my opinion is, “this place was devoid of the moving of the Spirit of God.” And I would not want to bring any new Christian to this church for fear that they would be shocked as well. In my opinion I saw a dead church-whose members were sure was still alive.” “I also listened to many other visions that evening and in every one Don was the Hero. He saved the World, got the girl and then rode off into the Sunset. I was left with the impression that the church was clinging to Don’s guidance in a manner that is not often seen in the church world at large. “ “To be frank, the moment I took in the service I perceived that The Church of Agape is no longer capable of unity with the rest of the church body at large. Nor could it be with its unique worship service—spiritual connections and its limited message “Don will lead us home.” “Who am I to judge?”—Someone who walks in the light. – Author Unknown”. Obviously everyone here is walking in the light, COA certainly can't be. Otherwise that may implicate a lot of people for not following their undersheppard DB and avoiding the spilt in the first place especially after Alice Rick’s gave a stern warning from God the night of the spilt not to follow the course of the elders (This was discounted because it wasn’t in agreement with status quo even though all previous messages from her were accepted). As far as I can recall not a single member from COA has ever posted on this board any criticalness towards any other churches whose member’s post on this board. Speaking for myself the bible states “touch not mine anointed”, but this is routinely overlooked here to criticize COA and DB. Would you criticize your own church and Pastor the way you criticize ours? I cant say this has been fun posting here. It grieves me to see the attitudes and the bitterness that still lingers. I guess time will tell. I believe in this move and am convinced by the good fruit I see in my own life and others that this is of God and it is the vehicle that will unite the Manchild ministry. I part with a final quote from Steve Born: “Spiritual connections” are either the will of God for the church (the claim made by COA), or they are not. If they are the will of God for the church, then all of us outside of COA are resisting God himself by refusing to participate in connections. Those of us who have criticized connections would be especially guilty. That is, when I read the Bible, I get the impression that God finds active opposition to Him to be a very big deal indeed. ---------- Just for the sake of accuracy and completeness.... Posted by Steve B. on 6/10/2001, 8:20 pm , in reply to "Last Post for me!, another COA member chased off. " My paragraph following the above quotation was as follows: On the other hand, if connections are not the will of God for the church, then COA is a bizarre, isolated group instead of a forerunner in “the move of God.” I cannot help but think that the divorces, the suicides, and the ruined ministries at the Chapel are also big deals in God's eyes. At least, I hope that he is not indifferent to spiritual disasters of that scale. Sincerely, Steve Born
