Posted by Richard E./Steve M./Steve B. on 8/7/2001, 12:30 pm Posted by Richard E. on 5/26/2001, 7:20 am Over the last several years, I have gotten involved with a ministry based here in Albuquerque called Faith Comes By Hearing. The ministry makes Bible tapes. Perhaps you own some? Initially the ministry was formed many years ago to produce Bible tapes primarily for Americans to increase their familiarity with the Bible. However, over the last ten years or so, a much more pressing need for the tapes has come about. Let me explain. Over 50% of the world's population is illiterate. While Bible translators have been and are doing a magnificent (and necessary) job of translating the Bible into many language groups, these Bibles cannot be read by poor, illiterate people. Handing over 50% of the world's people a Bible is like handing them a stone. Sure, these poor people gladly receive and treasure a Bible that is given to them but it is merely a religious "icon" to most of them as they cannot read it. The must rely on someone to read them the words and their entire village is probably illiterate. Faith Comes By Hearing puts these hundreds of translations on tapes in each of the group's own language and dialect. The ministry then sends "tape missionaries" into the towns and villages with tape players, lots of batteries and the tapes, teaching the poor and illiterate how to use the tape player and tapes so that these people groups can listen to Bible WHENEVER they want. Not just when a minister is able to read them the Bible. Afterall, FAITH COMES BY HEARING! For many years, when my wife and I did not attend church regularly or tithe to a local church, we determined that we were going to support this ministry. We could not think of a better, more pure ministry than delivering the Word of God to the poor people of the world who cannot read. UBS, Wycliffe Translators and other large organizations around the world have seen the value of this ministry and have reponded with various fund matching programs (you donate a dollar and they match the amount with a donation, contact ministry for details). Perhaps you or your church would like to sponsor a language being put on tape so that an entire people group can now listen the words of life? A number of ex-Chapel people are involved with this ministry. If you have questions or comments, please feel free to email me at Riches6@aol.com. Here is a website link to the FCBH Foundation page. Please also visit the main FCBH website (link provided on the Foundation page). If you truly want the Lord to return soon, support the church in its efforts to take the Bible to the ends of the earth and to all people groups. The Bride of Christ is everywhere, let's reach them with the words of life. The Lord was faithful to warn us through our shepherd, irregardless of his own susceptibility to the enemy's trap. While many believe that "..twist the love of God" refers to our misuse of connection love, I maintain that connection love itself was the twist. Scripture endorses unity of soul (which we were taught to despise) in the church (cf. Acts 4:32), but never encourages us to tinker with one another's spirits - that being God's domain. Actually, if you look closely, this is what Don said, even though I'm sure he thought otherwise. "we're going to get our top ones and come to them as love. We're going to come to them as God's love, we're going to fool them." ____________________ Posted by Steve B. on 5/23/2001, 10:12 am ...What were we thinking? ---------- Apparently not much :o) Posted by Paisley on 5/24/2001, 6:28 pm , in reply to ""EVIL demons that go 'RRRRR' " ?????" Thankfully we are thinking now!!!! ---------- Re: Sounded good at the time. Posted by Keith on 5/24/2001, 8:46 pm , in reply to ""EVIL demons that go 'RRRRR' " ?????" I guess what threw me off was the seeming dedicated worship toward God (as I hadn't seen before) plus the undeniable truth brought from the Unfolding Revelation of God. I figured the rest must be true as well. In my opinion a good portion of the rest was true, just enough to make us look pretty stupid in believing everything else. ---------- And things that go bump in the night.... Posted by Anthony W. Please Take a Look at this Ministry
