I was there, I heard it, and I attended both sides at the time..." The elders never likened DB to Pharoah. That was my analogy, perhaps poorly stated. I only meant that the wilderness can be part of spiritual advancement and that all the negative connotations attached to the wilderness experience are not entirely warranted. Question: From whence did the bride come, "leaning on her beloved"? ---------- What is a church building without the people? He states that he takes for granted the facility we once had, what is a church building without the people? and without the leadership from top down?" So I guess you could say, they don't need DB, the former leadership OR the facility! Good thing. The facility belongs to the state now because we were too stupid to keep it as a church. ---------- Posted by EricO on 5/27/2001, 8:42 pm , in reply to "What is a church building without the people?" I would never dare criticize another church or ministry, that is not what I'm doing (that would be criticizing God's work) I am disagreeing with Lanny's statement that the only thing he apparently missed about the sanctuary was the facility. This bulliten board addresses CCBTC and that is what I am refering to. New Heart is a great church! Many of my friends attend that church. The New sanctuary still could have been a church and not run by the state, if the elders, as a final measure against the Pastor and the remnant didnÂ’t kick us all out and sell it to the state. This sanctuary was built by all of us, our labor, efforts, tithes and offerings went into it. It was a part of us. I believe it should have been kept as a church. I think it was stupid to sell it to the state! ---------- Yes, it should still be a church Posted by Dave Kenady on 5/27/2001, 10:14 pm , in reply to "Re: What is a church building without the people?" I agree Eric. The old sanctuary should still be a church. I just got back from the Sunday night meeting of New Heart's convention there. It was nice to be in a worship service there. God was there and the people were worshipping God. How nice. They are talking about renting it out next year too. ---------- the elders Posted by lanny on 5/28/2001, 8:28 pm , in reply to "Re: From the WILD-erness" I talk with various elders now and then. Sometimes we reminisce about "those days." I have never had any ever tell me that we made a mistake in what we did. Although we have gone our own way since then we still stand by our actions in holding DB acountable. The decision was reached after days of careful deliberation. I don't believe that will change. Actually I believe that our predictions about DB are coming to pass and this is sad to see. This is to report historically what I know to be true about the elders. Lanny
About the wilderness
He noted what a wonderful facility it is -- therefore, what a wonderful facility we had once at our disposal. As far as the people go, sounds like the place is filled to the brim during this conference. And the leadership? New Heart has some very fine leaders. They even have a Bible college like we did and I've heard are in the process of building their own new sanctuary that will seat 1,500. (Someone correct me if I've heard wrong).
