Posted by Gordy, et al on 5/25/2001, 2:41 pm I haven't seen Chris W. post here lately and I don't have her EM address so I am asking for a little help. My oldest son, Bill, asked me if I could find someone that had a copy of Chris W.'s song "overwhelmed by you". He was playing it on the piano by memory last night but he just can't remmber the whole song. Any help? He is a superb pianist and he commented that of all the songs he remembers at the Chapel, this one was the stand out in his memory. Gordy ---------- Posted by Keith on 4/5/2001, 11:33 am , in reply to ""Overwhelmed By You"" I might have it. if I do I can record it into my computer and e-mail it to you. I'll have to do some dusting off of some old tapes. ---------- Keith: Thank you so much. The quality isn't really important. He only has to hear it once again fresh and he'll have it down pat. My Yahoo address is limited to 5 megs minus what I have in there now. If the file is larger or even close to 5 megs, let me know and I'll provide a different EM address that accepts up to 100 meg files. Thanks again bro, Gordy ---------- Re: Sorry... Posted by Keith on 4/6/2001, 7:30 pm , in reply to "Re: "Overwhelmed By You"" ... I looked, I don't have it. I'm pretty sure I had that one at one time. I have a bunch of other CC music including a couple Chris Walters tapes with a bunch of different songs on them. I might even have a Carol Pack album (with no way to play it). I also have a bunch of Mark Martin music that I recorded from RLA when they still had a tape library, actually it might have still been CC at that time. I could make Mp3s out of them and make them available on Napster. :o) Are the copyrights still good somehow? ---------- Posted by Gordy on 4/7/2001, 2:46 pm , in reply to "Re: Sorry... " Keith: Thanks for the effort! I'm not sure about the copyright issues but I would be sure to check with the individual artists if at possible. I doubt there would be any issues with general Music Ministry songs but can't be sure. Do you have Carol's recent CD release? It's great! Gordy ---------- Posted by Chris Walters on 4/12/2001, 5:19 pm , in reply to ""Overwhelmed By You"" Hi Gordy and all, I've been away, yes. I discontinued my internet service at home last September. I had major troubles with my provider AND ironically with my computer. My only connection to the net is via very infrequent visits to the library. For a long time, I forgot how to access this site. I have never been able to catch up on the postings. I'm sure I have a tape of the song -- somewhere. Seems my old cassettes are literally buried in the recesses of my basement somewhere. Does he need to hear it or would having the lyrics be enough? I don't even have a way of dubbing cassettes anymore. I guess I could play and sing over the phone!!!!! I've been ministering again. About the time I quit the net at home I found a new life at church. Ironically, it's a small Baptist church just several blocks from home. About 50 attend each week. My grandmother spent her life in that church and was a lovely Christian. I grew up in the Methodist church down the street. Anyway, I started attending last summer because I felt a burden for my daughter that she would have some kind of a church life. Actually, I didn't really attend. I sent Cydney to Sunday school. They had a potluck for the Sunday school program last summer and when I attended, I got invited to sing at the evening service. The new pastor had been there about 6 months. I had heard good things. That night I sang A Shepherd We Can Trust, and Close is Where I want to Be. The pastor introduced himself to me immediately afterward, and told me that he had been praying for someone with an anointing to come to this church. He is a wonderful, and very humble man of God...very unassuming. I knew it was the Lord tugging at my heart. It felt like the good old days when the call was undeniable. A few months went by; I visited each Sunday morning. By this time they had begun a "praise" time that lasted about 5-10 minutes at the start of each service. This was a HUGE step for most of the people in this church. But, many of them have latched onto where this pastor is taking them. Shortly after I began attending, he had a healing service. EVERYONE (it seemed) went up for healing. I was amazed and got involved shortly after that. When I finally visited with the pastor, I shared how I felt about worship and that to lead worship was my calling. I now play piano those 5-10 minutes and lead vocally with 2 or 3 others. I remember last fall how rusty I felt. It's as if I'm taking baby steps but I'm getting back into it and all I can say is that I know this is what I'm supposed to be doing. After 12 years of visiting churches and mostly not going at all, I am amazed by how much this feels like home to me. Seems like it just fell in my lap. I have all the confirmation I need deep in my heart. I know it is the Lord because it doesn't matter if I'm ministering to 2 or 2000 -- the goal is the same. Other than that, my job is going well and my daughter presents me with the daily challenges of parenthood that bring both joy and strike fear into my heart! I'm getting more diligent about getting to the library to get online. I actually do NOT miss it at home. I hope this means I'll be in touch a little more than I have. God bless, Chris Walters ---------- Posted by lanny on 4/13/2001, 11:36 pm , in reply to "Re: "Overwhelmed By You"" Great testimony, Chris. You have many friends that are also getting involved all over the globe. I am hearing testimonies on a regular basis of old friends with a fresh calling and vision who are doing amazing things. Just last week I talked with Karl Martin (the church architect). He is moving lock stock and barrel to Uganda to head a Bible school. Quite a story how it all came together. I am involved in a ministry school that is getting up a full head of steam to start next fall. Most of the people involved are CC'ers. Several have an amazing testimony of how God has prepared them for this venture. In listening to them I have to say that God is going to do something significant. I went to hear Keith lead worship at a small church in Des Moines several months ago. I hear he is leading on a regular basis. It is a new church with a peppy pastor. Looks like they will be growing. I play golf with David Hunt now and then. He has been singing in MM at New Heart Worship Center where I have been going. Brenda Rice is the music director. You would be blessed to see how she has come into her own. We have an annual spring conference that attracts people from all over. This year it will be held at guess where? Yup! It will be at the old sanctuary. That will be quite a trip for the many CC'ers that will attend. Isn't it about time for another reunion? Love, Lanny ---------- Posted by Chris Walters on 4/14/2001, 2:25 pm , in reply to "Re: "Overwhelmed By You"" Good to hear from you, Lanny! It's really exciting to hear what is going on in the lives of so many people I remember well. I have known several people here in Iowa who have taken on overseas missionary work. I understood the calling they felt, but I wasn't feeling it myself. Now that I'm back in the "groove" I can relate once again to how it feels when you know God wants you to do something. It is compelling. I hope the reunion you talk about is well attended. I know there are many people who have specifically prayed that somehow the old sanctuary would once again be used by God. This would be an answer to prayer for them. Personally, it won't be the same without that big, gorgeous grand piano. I suppose the keyboard will be digital and just as great, but unless you've experienced the thrill of playing it, you wouldn't miss it. The internet will be a great way to get the word out. Keep us posted! Say hi to my old music buddies. I remember them fondly. Chris Walters ---------- Posted by David Sandoval on 4/15/2001, 12:55 pm , in reply to "ministry and reunion in the old sanctuary" Along the lines of music, does everyone feel free to listen to secular music as well as christian music? I personally don't really get much out of it from a spiritual aspect. I don't listen to what is out there today in the secular world because I think it's all garbage--save a song or two. But I do enjoy the music of Sinatra, Crosby, and those from that era. Is this wrong?? ---------- clarification Posted by lanny on 4/15/2001, 8:29 pm , in reply to "ministry and reunion in the old sanctuary" The upcoming event in the old CC sanctuary is not a CC reunion. It is this years Spring conference that is put on by New Heart Worship Center. It just happens to be held this year at the old sanctuary. Everyone is invited. Lanny

I didn't ask for a ministry again, but I always stayed open in my heart. I'm not sure I can even call it a "ministry." Seems so technical. I just know that there's a place for me there and it's right where I belong. I know, too, that I will start writing again -- someday. But, I haven't felt to and I'm not worried about it. My life is so busy that I'm always looking at it one step at a time. I'm just staying open. When you have a pastor who is really focused on what the Lord wants instead of what we want as lowly men, it's a weekly reminder to stay humble and open about the gifts and calling of God.
