Posted by Anon.II/Dave Kenady, et al on 4/5/2001, 3:09 pm Posted by Anon.II on 3/16/2001, 4:12 pm I received pity from other Christians when the Chapel split, but I also relate to the similarities presented that resemble a type because there were those who did revel in its demise. I actually know Orthodox Christians that are not threatened by the Oneness doctrine, and have true fellowship with them. Personally, I think that depicting the Chapel as fallen, is part of that reveling that is so not of God. I know many of the saints that are still walking strong with the Lord, and believing the Oneness doctrine continues to set them free in their understandings of Jesus and His word. In my eyes, the Chapel is still going strong. This “who’s to blame” question has been tossed about so many times on this board, and only a just mentality realizes that both sides of the nature of God adherents made mistakes. However, this notion that the larger Orthodox Church is innocent of advocating a “come-outer” stance is purely denial. These attempts to color the concept of “coming out” of a religious affiliation avoids the fact that much of orthodoxy does not teach what a soul needs to know in order to be saved. Martin Luther indeed started a latter day movement to find salvation through faith, and not of works that initiated millions of souls to become “come-outers”. “Coming-out” is God’s will for every man whose soul is not being born-again “where they are at”. Being raised in a Catholic home, after conversion I was told that I should “bloom where I was planted”. This sentiment took no regard for the fact that my soul was dead on the vine. I had to overcome resentment that during all the years I spent practicing my religion religiously, I had NEVER been taught that I needed to be born again. After years and years of MANY long repeated memorized prayers, one simple candid prayer revealed to me a relationship with the lover of my soul. Thank God for His example of Nicodemus, being a very religious man, and yet Jesus said he could not enter the kingdom of God except he be born again. When I started attending the Chapel, I was there 3 months before I started attending Bible College. It was not until I was in UROG class that I learned that the Chapel taught Oneness. If it was the tool used to cause people to “come out”, I had missed it completely. I find this particularly pertinent to the accusation, especially when you take into consideration that it was a Trinitarian Church member that tried to teach me that the Catholic church (also Trinitarian) was part of “Babylon” long before I even knew of the Chapels existence. Trinitarians also believe that Oneness believers should come-out, to the point of denying our salvation. I wonder why they evade their own “come-outism”. It was pointed out that Chapel felt the nature of God understanding “affects all doctrines” as though this was something to be feared. Did Chapel ever teach that a person could not be saved if they believed the Trinity? No, never. Confusion about the doctrines does not mean that a man cannot be saved. Does it surprise us that anti-Oneness think that the Chapel was in error? When Martin Luther stood up to the “larger church”, he was perceived as “antagonistic”, and we also see that orthodoxy failed to mourn, because it failed to see. ____________________ Posted by Dave Kenady on 3/20/2001, 11:02 pm One day, a little girl was drawing a picture, when her mommy came over sand said, "What are you drawing?" The little girl said, "I'm drawing a picture of God." Mommy said, with a smile, "But honey, no one knows what God looks like." The little girl replied, "Well, I'm not done, yet! ---------- Posted by Moses on 3/24/2001, 1:36 pm , in reply to "Not Done Yet" Dave, I just thought of a rather neat Scriptural truth that goes along w/ this. Remember the Scripture that says 'we shall know Him even as we are are known' or something like that? Only the Lord truly knows what we look like on the inside based on our heart's condition and He isn't done painting the picture of our lives and what we'll look like once we are called home. So, He "isn't done yet" because making us like Jesus is a PROCESS! Moses
