it's best to have your carrier set low, like 1 watt. swinging to 50 is stretching it on a stock cb. I have seen cobra 29's do it, but they've had their modulation limiter cut (bad) and that 110% modulation will drive the watts (swing) up. however, that 50 watts is read on a very happy PEAK watt meter that the cb shop uses to inflate the #s. more realistically, you're probably putting out 25-30 on average. this excludes radios with dual finals or built in amps.
