Thank-you in advance!
1st. my equipment & set-up: Cobra 148 (approx 22 years old) with Talk Back installed into radio, 5 pin Turner Mic, 250 watt SuperStar Kicker and Wilson 2000 antena
I run this in my tractor trailer with radio wired to electrical post in the cab and the Kicker going directly to the battery.
My problem is this: Once in a while I loose my receive - I can tell immediately - the only comparison that I can associate with it is it's like a water hose that gets a kink in it where as some signal gets through on transmital & receive but it's in a real limited area (about a 1/2 mile) - when it happens I click the mic a few times and sometimes that will kick everything back to normal operation - if that doesn't work I will shut everything down and power back up (which has never rectified the problem) drive for a while then start clicking the mic again and this will usally re-engage whatever is malfuctioning - the only thing that has ever seemed to work 100% was when I replaced the coax between the Kicker & Radio (I was using a 12' and switched to a 9') everything has been working great for about a month & half then all of a sudden the same problem happened yesterday
My question is: Is it possible to "Burn out Coax Cables" that's what seems to be what's happening - everything is streched out "Not" rolled up together - I beleive everything to be grounded properly - It's weired just seems to get backed up a little then it releases itself - I know when it happens immediately and like wise when it releases "I know it immediately"
I will entertain any and every thoght that anyone may have!
