Hi there. I'm a new SLP in an elementary school and I have a question that I'm hesitant to even ask, but it's a big one. I still feel unclear on where exactly kids need to be at certain levels. I know the basics just from having learned as I've gone along, but, for example, when a resource room teacher comes to me about a 3rd grader with language problems and wants to know what level of reading program is appropriate based on x,y,z...I guess I just feel like I need some frameworks to go by. Where should a 6-year-old be? Where should a 9-year-old be? Do you formulate goals based on low scores on subject areas on tests? I just think I'm not seeing this as clearly as I could. If you could point me in the direction of any resources or advice it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your help.
