What would constitute a breach of contract? Leaving the company before the school year was up? Leaving at all?
I don't have experience with these kinds of contracts myself, but I knew someone (in another field) who signed one of these non-compete clauses, and when he left the company, he could not do his specific-training and very well paid job for a whole year. It was very tough for his family.
Does the company (or companies) present a rationale as to why you can't work as an SLP /employee/ for a whole year after you leave their company? I can see why they wouldn't want you to go into business for yourself, but an EMPLOYEE?
It sounds like it would be better to apply directly to the different school systems! Or, at least get a labor attorney to look over the contract for you.
