I have a student which I dismissed 4 weeks ago. Today her mother called me saying she wants to know why I dismissed her. I explained that she had reached her goal and was producing her target phonemes with 100% accuracy. She says, how do you know? I was so upset! Anyway, as the mom went on, I began to realize that the phone call was because her daughter wants to be in speech. Who wouldn't, it's fun. Reluctantly I put her back on my roster. I have two questions. Would it be a good idea to send out a newsletter to all my students, so that I am not singling her out, to let them know my background, qualifications, with some other tips for parents to help their kids and how much speech homework is too much?
Thank you
