I have been out of grad school for about 2 years now. My first job was doing early intervention and contracting with the schools to see kids one on one. I feel like I got good experience with different kids in that job, but there are just some things you don't see in those types of settings. For example, I just switched jobs and now I work for a pediatric outpatient rehab. I'm getting kids that are a lot more severe - who have brain injuries, feeding and swallowing issues, severe stutterers, very functionally low-level children, autism, etc, mixed in with your typical artic/language kids. I really WANTED the challenge and I still do, but sometimes I feel so incompetent! I know you're not supposed to know everything two years out, but these kids deserve good therapy and sometimes despite my best efforts (researching, reviewing textbooks when I get home), I feel like a failure! I need some encouragement or advice if anyone has any!
