I just finished my first year in a large school/caseload. I asked my supervisor for a departmental handbook (which should have instructions on documentation requirements, how to write an IEP, etc.). Also, if there are monthly or quarterly staff meetings, try and connect with a veteran speech path. This will provide you with a mentor/go-to contact. There's a great book that I've read and highlighted throughout...."A Survival Guide for the School Speech-Language Pathologist".....that's a pretty close title. It'll be on Amazon if you do a search. Well worth the investment!
A HUGE timesaver is to have an outline of your "Initial Evaluation" document on a jump drive. This way you can enter all the information you'll want to have for a professional document with blank spaces left throughout for evaluation results, subjective information, etc.
Best wishes for a successful, happy year ahead! Enjoy being with your kids and have fun!
