Yes! It IS reinventing the wheel! This works for me, though my schedule is in pencil all yearbecause we speechers are the nicest and most flexible when changes need to be made.
First, I see which class has the most students and that teacher gets first choice of times. I tell the teacher the # of minutes based on the IEP and make suggestions about grouping. Then I proceed down the list, from most to least students.
Then, the OT, PT, social worker, reading teacher, LD resource schedule, kids move out, kids move in and we speechers are nothing if not flexible. Oh--YES, I do try for homogenous grouping but after awhile, that just seems like a beautiful, impossible dream...
