I am with you! I have always worked in the schools, and have never felt as though my ASHA CCCs were needed or appreciated. I have always felt as though we have earned our certification, so having to pay it yearly is like saying that our years of work were busywork (I do not really feel this way, I value my education, but why do I need to pay to keep the letters I earned?).
My current district does offer a stipend, so that makes it worth it, but most smaller MN schools do not, and do not realize how lucky they are to have a CERTIFIED person on their staff! I agree, the $200 comes at the worst time of the year, and most school employees do not make enough each year to pay for these extras.
