It has been very effective. Students make steady progress each day without missing much class time. Plus I am able to keep data everyday!
During this time I Drill, Drill, Drill. NO GAMES!
-I requested that a table be put outside of every other classroom (We have little cubbys there.)
-I block out my times to see my 5-minute kids
(Mondays 9-11, Thursdays 12:45-2:00, and small make-up time on Fridays and throughout the week.
During this time I travel around to different classrooms. I do not have set/specific times for every student.
- I love to use the worksheets form No-Glamour Language from Linguisystems. They have 20 pictures on it, so if I have them say each word 5 times that is 100 response.
-I also use open-ended worksheets in which I write target words. (Every students gets the same worksheet). This makes it easy to send individualized homework home with every student everytime I see them with little copying/planning.
- I usually see students individually for 5-10 minutes. I have a stop watch that I wear around my neck. When the student comes out to work with me I start it, then stop it when they leave. I then record the data and time I have worked with then on my daily log.
- I write my IEP hours as .5-1.5 hours per month.
(I have also written it as 1-2 5-10 minute
sessions per week.)
(Note: This program does not work that well for /r/ kids unless they can quickly produce and /r/ sounds with little placement work needed. It works great for /k, g, th, l, d, t, s, sh, ch,/.)
I know this is really wordy...I hope it helps.
