A few of our teachers, including me (speech therapist) have been trained to administer AIMSWEB, a screening for possible reading problems. This, as I understand it, is to provide early intervention for reading problems before going to referral and IEPs. As of the start of this year, we haven't done the screening. I'm not sure what the interventions are or who will be giving them.
My BIGGEST concerns now are getting my schedules up and running. My motto has become: A schedule is a house of cards, not written in stone. Cool mixed metaphors or what?
AND: Finding research based artic and language materials. As I understand it, OUR materials will have to be as standardized as our school district's reading series. Synonym (category, opposites, etc.) picture cards that have been research based/standardized? Someone please tell me I am wrong!
