I worked in highschool last year. What I learned was KEEP THEIR WORK LOOKING AGE APPROPRIATE. Some of my students were low functioning also, but I found some great materials. I found 25 piece puzzles at a local store that had Fantastic Four and Spiderman (Highschoolers read comics). I also got easy reader stories of popular television shows in graphic novel form. (They are called Cinemanga in some stores, Barnes and Nobles is great for that). I used photographs on many of my worksheets and folder games. They look more age appropriate than some of the folder games and basic level worksheeets I have seen.
