This seems very odd to me. In the past, I have always tried to put in conference requests pretty early in the fall because they are more lenient about the budget at that time. If there is one that I want to go to later in the spring, I sometimes have to pay for it on my own. In addition to the one conference, they will also purchase materials for us to do a book study and will pay one of the SLPs $50 to "lead the study" (they write up a brief paper/outline of the book). They will give us PDPs for that.
