Posted by brento Once the kids fill up their star sheet (10 stars) - they get a dinky prize (super duper prize box - they also love click pencils - real cheap at orientaltradingcomany.com). I love the system - espicially the postive aspect of it. I work in a very tough school and this system works. And it does not eat up too much time. Also - there is no limit to the number of stars students get a session. In the early stages, kids could even get all 10 stars in 1 session as I shape their behavior by rewarding on target behavior. Works like a charm for 95% of kids - there are still a few who need a specific individualized system.

Our school uses the Postive Behavior Supports system so I work into that. My class rules are Be Safe, Be Respectful, Be Responsible. I have a "star sheet" (I make the stars in crayon - instant! - no stickers). I get out the kids' star sheets during the session and I give stars as I see behavior that meets the rules. If I see a student modeling good behavior for another student, I star that student (that way I do not have to reprimand the poor behavior of a student and can shape their behavior to what is appropriate).
