The Third Eye Perspective Christian Thoughts For Today:
Good Morning Saints! How are you doing this morning, good I hope? Did you have a good weekend, I sure hope so? Mine was pretty good I would have to say myself! I hope that you have a good and very Blessed Monday and start to your work week! May God Bless You and Yours in 2018 and beyond! - “Are YOU 100% sure, that you are Saved and headed to Heaven when you die? Are you sure YOUR name IS written in the Heavenly “Book of Life?” Is there absolutely not a shadow of a doubt in your mind, that your Salvation is already secured and you’re just waiting on the good Lord to call you home to be with Him? If the answer is “No, Not Sure, I Think So, Maybe, or Probably, then you need to get busy right now working on fixing that. You need to be totally sure where your Soul will spend eternity!” And AMEN goes right here….

Thought For Today – “A Selfish Spirit…..It’s All About Me/I”
You know, today’s message came to me over the weekend while I was observing my son Dawson spending time with his little brother Derek. On this past Friday, Dawson called me at work and asked me if his little brother could come spend the night with us. Being that I think the world of that little kid who ironically isn’t my biological son just for the record to clear up any confusion, I of course agreed to it. What had me in awe of my son Dawson, is how he seemingly felt the need to justify “why” to me he really wanted Derek to come say with us, “Dad, he and I really don’t get to see each other that much now that I’m in college and staying in the dorm on campus. He really likes hanging out with me and I miss that little fella too dad.” Although I allowed him to plead his case, I had already told him the minute he first asked that it was okay. The excitement I saw in both their eyes when I picked them up from their grandmother’s house Friday evening, really warmed my heart. Now I know Derek loves coming to my new house, I overheard him call it on his first visit to it, “the coolest house ever!” LOL! Of course I treat him like he’s family when he’s there (and when he’s not also) insisting that he make himself at home. It took him a while, but he finally did and it is a real blessing to see that he does feel that comfortable there. It is with this train of thought, or line of thinking, that it was placed on my heart this morning to talk about “A Selfish Spirit……..It’s All About Me/I.” And AMEN goes right here! Father God in Heaven, I come to you with a bowed down head, and a very humbled heart, trying to humble myself before your throne of mercy the best way that I know how. Asking first and foremost that you forgive me for all of my sins, trespasses, and especially any of Your commandments I’ve broken, and then Lord, asking that you allow me to be back in Your good graces right now. Lastly dear Lord, I ask that You Bless me to relay this message to my family, friends, acquaintances, and even total strangers as clearly and effectively as you would have me to, in the mighty awesome name of Jesus Christ, Your sweet darling Son, and the Christian folks said AMEN!
Now in finishing my story, I got to witness probably the most unselfish acts a big brother could ever exhibit to his younger brother! The way that Dawson treated him when he didn’t even realize I was paying attention to it, just really blew me away. They laughed and talked like they were best friends the entire time he was there. They played X-Box and you could hear them all the way in my living room really getting into the game they were playing. When it was time to eat supper, Dawson fixed his plate and they said Grace over their food. Then, I took them to a game exchange type of store where they just looked around at different Xbox games, books, and movies and Derek just followed him around like they were best friends. It really caused me to have a proud Daddy moment that I might just be doing something right with Dawson, as he always seem to impress me more and more just when I think he couldn’t do anything more than he has already, recently making the Presidential Scholar’s list his first semester in College. Okay now I’m going to throw you that notorious curveball that I am famous for in my devotionals! I have already set the stage to have you totally confused when you try to apply my subject heading to my story about my son Dawson and his brother Derek. What got me to thinking about my subject heading, “A Selfish Spirit…..It’s All About Me/I” was just seeing how UN-selfish my son Dawson was with his little brother, and then how so many people are just the opposite. I immediately started to have Biblical examples flashing in and out of my mind of those people who fit the description of being “Selfish” and having a “It’s all about me/I” mentality. The first that comes to mind if you would turn in your Bibles with me to the Book of Genesis, you’ll read about God creating all the angles but one powerful one in particular, Lucifer aka Satan on earth. He is probably this best example of “A Selfish Spirit,” because it is the pride that resulted from his “ME/I” mentality that got him kicked out of Heaven. The next example in the Bible, will be that of, are you ready for this, “Adam and Eve.” Staying in the same Book of Genesis you’ll read where God created Adam, then Eve and gave them E-V-E-R-Y-T-H-I-M-G they would ever need to survive and also thrive on earth. God also gave them dominion over every living creature on land (ummm that would also include Lucifer because at this point he has been kicked out of Heaven for rebelling and made to live on earth now) and all of those animals of the sea, and the fowls of the air as well! And that still wasn’t good enough, because they got caught slipping and ate of the forbidden fruit tree after Eve had an encounter with the serpent aka Satan also formerly known as Lucifer. Can you see where all of this is going?????
Okay, I have a few more Biblical examples of “A Selfish Spirit,” before I make my final point…..turn with me on further into the Book of Genesis, ohhhhh say to about the 19th chapter. There you’ll read about a man named Lot the nephew of Abraham, who had a wife that to my knowledge name is never mentioned in the Bible. Lot’s wife is famous for being turned into a pillar of salt because she disobeyed God’s warning “not to look back” while He was destroying the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah due to their sinful nature being so far out of hand. Many Biblical scholars have pondered the question of “why” she looked back, concluding that it might have been because she was going to miss that old lifestyle of sin? Pause……that is a Devotional message all by itself right there, “Don’t look back at the sin you have conquered or broken the chains that were keeping you attached to them, if you don’t want to experience God’s wrath and punishment?” Hmmmmmnnnnnnnnn, think I’ll save that for future reference. The next example would be the Prodigal’s Son, so please turn with me to the Book of Luke the 15th chapter starting with the 11th verse to about the 32nd verse. Here we have a young man whose father is described as a very well off man with two sons and a wife. He is a man of means and substance if you will, in other words as they say in the hip hop community, “he making that paper,” aka lots of money! This young man wakes up one morning after the spirit of “selfishness” took hold of him for whatever reason, and decided he wanted “his share” of his father’s estate to go off into the world to explore it. I see a hand up in my virtual audience, which is not a normal occurrence so let me see what this man’s question is? Ummmm Brother Carlos, I think I missed part of your story here, because I don’t recall hearing you say that father had died?” Ha! You are very observant, because he hadn’t! That is what is so arrogant about the younger son’s actions, in asking for it while his father was still alive! Talk about an epic case of entitlement! Okay hurrying this on to a close, the father agree to give his son his portion of his estate and the son left hurriedly so see the world. It wasn’t long before he was broke destitute and realized his mistake, and at that point had to swallow his pride and go back to his father’s house, apologize, and be full willing to live as a servant in his own father’s house. Yet his father did not see it that way, and those of you who does not understand this, that is called true love, and complete humility on his father’s part. How many of you could have forgiven your child for such a foolish and very selfish act? Don’t raise your hands, you are sitting in a Church (virtual or not) I wouldn’t want a lightning bolt to hit you right now for fibbing!! The moral of these stories above, was to indicate how having “A Selfish Spirit” will never, I repeat NEVER generate anything positive in your life if you suffer from this condition. I am very glad that I was raised by two of the most Unselfish people you could ever meet, my mother Gladys aka “Momma G.” and my Grandmother “Dorothy May.” They were not perfect, and I won’t act like they were, but in MY book and I’m sure quite a lot of other’s they were pretty darn close to it! They were the most freehearted two women I have ever met in my entire life to this day. Jesus could have easily been a “Selfish” person, think about what it was he was deemed to have to do? He was tasked with coming down into a mean and very selfish world and live among us for thirty-three long years, just so that He could be crucified on a Cross for OUR sins, not His! And if that wasn’t bad enough, to not have a lot of people even appreciate it and or benefit (as far as Salvation goes) from it. Can I leave you with a question to ponder today if I may?
“Find a big mirror to look in. Then look in that mirror and ask the question, Do I Suffer From A Selfish Spirit? If you are honest with yourself and the answer is YES, make the decision right then to first ask for forgiveness from the Lord God in Heaven for having it in the first place, but then make a honest and concerted effort to kill that “Selfish Spirit” right then and there! Here’s a hint, if you ask the Lord to kill that spirit, He will do just that!”
Can I get an AMEN?
“Today, choose to “Ride or Die” with Jesus Christ! Afterall, isn’t that exactly what He did for us on the Cross and Calvary’s Mt?”
