Looks like no more fresh cattle in the first round at Cheyenne. I'm not a fan of that rule for certain. That tradition is one of the things that makes CFD unique.

I counted the calf ropers on the result page and came up with 94. First year I was there in 76 there was almost 350. Last time for me was 2004 and think they were just shy of 300.
It was kind of disappointing to me. Turning into a festival instead of the rodeo. They don't treat the contestants like they use to. On Thursday about every 45 minutes they would announce that all contestants must be out of the parking lot by noon or they would be towed. The team roping didn't get over until 11:30.
Makes you miss those rodeos out in the middle of nowhere where the rodeo is the main and only event going on.
Don't think we will ever see fresh cattle there again. From what I was told they are already tying down all the calves one time before the start. Wouldn't be surprised in a few years they will be roping calves that have been roped 3 or 4 times before the start of the rodeo.
They trying to please the animal activists but that will never happen no matter what they do.
The new rule proposals show the whole organization is trying to please them without the calf roper's input.
