Recently I have been struggling with my catch loop, so I need some input. Trust me I accept constructive criticism well because I can't quit this game and it is starting to cost me. Some of you know me well and have seen me rope, but for those of you who haven't I will give you some background(not excuses). #1 I don't practice nearly as much as I once did, I have had two complete knee replacements, I ride a horse that is nothing less than great and I am approx. 65 yr. old My main flaw is taking my throw while sitting down.
I read once that Clay O'brien Cooper ropes sitting down

Therefore I truly believe you should give Gracie to me and you should start roping heels.

Whenever I had problems, mostly from sitting down and not standing up. I would stand up in the ssaddle and push my belt buckle against the saddle horn when I threw. That always cured a lot of missing for me.

Randy, what your saying is a problem most of us have. We know we have to get up on the dashboard to throw but we are sitting in the back seat. One of the most rewarding conversations I had was with Howard Council. What a friendly and knowledgeable man he was. I suppose he had heard many opinions over the years regarding calf roping saddles. He advise to me was a 14 inch seat and a high cantle. Keep changing stirrup length to find a comfortable position.

I am glad that at least someone else has had this problem. It seems in my youth I never missed and now (last 2 years) I had trouble roping 3 or 4 in a row. very frustrating, I also have trouble thinking this thru because my little mare covers so much ground so fast I am hardly ready when we get there! --Previous Message-- : Randy, what your saying is a problem most of : us have.
