A Christian Cowboy Perspective:
Thoughts For Today – “Choose Wisely Which Master You Will Serve…”
By Carlos C. Brown
The old saying “you can’t have it both ways,” has been around for a very long time. It usually is used by a parent telling a child that they can’t have two things that conflict each other (toys vs money, good grades in school without studying, success in sports without putting in the work in practice and on a child’s own time, etc…). There are also instances when in even the parents lifestyle, they have to choose one way or the other. Their career of choice can’t be achieved unless they gain specific training in that field. And even once they get in their position in their career of choice, they have to decide if they want to be just a “worker” or strive to be something more, like part of management, aka “Tha Boss.” There will always be a choice that people face in life where it is a “you can’t have it both ways” choice scenario. The key though, it making sure you fully and completely weigh the pros and cons before making your decision. You can’t allow yourself to be manipulated into making your choice. Everyday people allow outside and even inside forces to manipulate them to choose what they want you to choose. It may seem like the right choice at the time, but is it really? Or is it the choice of least resistance that you chose because it seemed less stressful or the least resistant? My next devotional will go along with this one as a part 2 and it will be called “The Spirit of Manipulation.” It is a message that has been tugging at me to share it for a few days now, because of a situation that I have been involved in that deals with someone very dear to me being manipulated and not even realizing it. Satan is a very busy entity, and he will most definitely use those closest to you who won’t even realize it to manipulate you into veering away from what God has for you in the form of a blessing. This is why you have to make sure that you are not choosing the road that has least resistant, when that is exactly the road God didn’t want you to choose. He has His reasons for wanting you to choose that road that seems impossible because there will lessons to learn along that road that may not be for you, but the very ones trying to manipulate you to take it. It is with this thought or line of thinking that it was placed on my heart this morning to talk about, “Choose Wisely Which Master You Will Serve.” Can I get an AMEN right here?
When it comes to your Religion, unlike most other choices in life, it is pretty “cut and dried”. You are either a Christian or not, there are no grey areas in that case. There are so many other “religions,” but only one that God recognizes, and that is Christianity! And as Bible states, “there will come a time when EVERY knee shall bow and EVERY tongue confess that Jesus Christ LORD! You can’t straddle the fence and be “worldly” one minute, and or any of the other “religions” that I won’t name, and then Christian the next, it just doesn’t work that way. You have to choose which “master” you will serve. What you didn’t know there was more than one master to choose from? Don’t get what I asked twisted, I said you can’t serve two “masters,” not Gods! There isn’t but ONE “God,” but there are a lot of “pretenders” out there in the world. His followers might think Satan is a God, but that just isn’t the case. Because if you know your Biblical history as I’ve mentioned in previous “Thought For Today’s,” even Satan himself called God “Lord, Master, The Holy One, his Creator. And God has a few different names that each have a different pronunciation but all mean the same such as:
Elohim – It means God as in the Creator.
El Elyon – God the Most High (Genesis 14:18-20)
El Roi – God who sees (Genesis 16:13-14)
El Shaddai – God Almighty (Genesis 17:2-3)
Yahweh – I Am He who is (Exodus 3:13-14)
Adonai – Lord (Exodus 4: 10-12)
As you can see, although different , the names mean the same thing, the one and only supreme God in Heaven. People choose everyday whether they realize it or not who they want to serve. Your lifestyle chooses this for you. For example, from a very early age God has been a fixture in my upbringing. My mother took all of us to church every Sunday and she instilled the importance of having Jesus in our lives from day one. My grandparents followed up those teachings when I went to live with them at age twelve and they had me in Church everytime the doors were open is seems like. You might be able to fool them into letting you stay home from school, but you had to be pretty sick to get out of going to Church. LOL! We were even made to sing in the youth church choir back then too! Now when you get “grown,” the responsibility of “Choosing who you will serve” falls on you not your parents. Yes they can “Joan” you to go, and for those of you who don’t know what that means, “Harass you, get on your nerves, pester you, etc…” LOL! If you have the foundation that most parents put on their kids about Christ, your parents shouldn’t have to stay on you to keep a good relationship with God. If you choose God as the one you will serve, it doesn’t mean you will have a life free of strife, pain, sadness, and more importantly “Storms,” it means that you will be prepared to deal with those “life occurrences” a lot better than you would if you didn’t have God in your life. And at the end of your life, and if you remain Faithful, you are promised a Heavenly Crown and a position in the presence of God Himself. If you choose the other master( Satan), well you might have a good life on earth, but the price for that good earthly life, will be an eternity of pure “Hell”…..You choose, Eternal life in Heaven in the presence of God and all the other Angels and your family members who chose God or Eternal life in Hell and its “Lake of Fire”……Choose wisely, because it is YOUR choice, and YOUR choice only to make! Can I leave you with a very important question to ponder if I may?
“After reading the above, which master will you choose to serve, God in Heaven, or Satan in Hell”?????
Can I get an Amen????
Today, choose to “Ride or Die” with Jesus Christ!
"So let go, and let God have His way"
