The Third Eye Perspective:
By Carlos C. Brown
Thought For Today – “You Have The Wrong Objectives/Agendas In Place.”
If you would, please turn with me to Hebrews 6: 10. In this particular passage of scripture you will find the following, “For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward His name, in that ye have ministered to the saints and do minister.” By a show of virtual hands, how many of you can admit that you operate under an “Agenda?” You know, some people refer to them as missions or goals in life. However, they are the same as either “agendas or objectives” nomatter how you try to dress them up. If your “agendas or objectives” are driven only by “what can I get out of a situation,” then I would say you need to reassess your motives behind your objectives. It is with this train of thought, or line of thinking, that it was placed on my heart this morning to talk about, “You Have The WRONG Objectives In Place.” And AMEN goes right here! There is not one single person alive or dead for that matter, that can honestly say that they have never had any agendas or “objectives” in life. We all have them whether we realize it or not, that’s just a fact of life that people are going to have objectives or “agendas” in just about everything they do, both good or bad. The problem that most, not all but most, people face is that their agendas or “Objectives” are not always good and or Godly. The human nature side of us at times, can easily be tempted to let our morals, character, and more importantly our normally good or Christian nature to become “compromised,” to the point that it allows us to do something that we wouldn’t normally be capable of doing under normal circumstances. We’ll even try to justify it to ourselves because “nobody saw me do it, so no harm no foul” or worse, we try to justify it to someone else. That’s when it has gotten way out of hand, when we start trying to justify it being okay, all the while knowing that The Holy Spirit inside us (our conscience) is telling us it is very WRONG! If your “Objective” was honorable in the first place, you wouldn’t have to try so hard to justify it to yourself and especially to other people. Let’s pause here and discuss some people from the Biblical days whose wrong objectives or “Agendas” resulted in their downfall….
Of course you have to mention old Lucifer (aka Satan), who I would have to think wins the award for the biggest fall from “Grace” due to having the wrong objectives/agendas. How do you go from being not only one of the Lord’s Angels in Heaven, but an Angel in a position of power for the Lord (His Minister of Music), to being kicked out of Heaven and to the pits of Hell??? Talk about having the WRONG agenda/objectives in an epic FAIL!!! We would also have to include all the former angels who rebelled with Lucifer and were also kicked out of Heaven for that act. If we mention Lucifer’s fall from Heaven, we also then have to mention Adam and Eve’s fall in “The Garden of Eden’s” Grace. Eve had the wrong agendas/objectives in place when she found herself unknowingly being tricked by the serpent next to the tree with the forbidden fruit. Her objective to know as much as God knows caused what would have to be the 2nd biggest fall from God’s Grace in the history of man, and also has had epic everlasting effects for generations to come! In keeping with the time frame examples, Adam and Eve’s son Cain had the wrong objective or “Agenda” when it came to giving his offering to God after his first harvest. When God wasn’t as pleased with Cain’s as he was Abel’s offering, Cain became jealous and angry at his brother Abel. He then went and acted on that jealousy and anger slaying his brother Abel in the field. The end result of that failed objective, the very first documented murder in the history of man committed! Now, let’s fast forward to the people of Israel, “God’s Chosen People.” I mean really? How can you be deemed with such a prestigious title or label of being “God’s Chosen People,” and it take you over 440 years to finally come to your senses and realize what is entailed in keeping that status? For those of you who either don’t know the stories, or have forgotten, they spent 400 years in captivity as slaves under the Pharaoh’s of Egypt, until Moses acting on God’s instruction helped them to gain their freedom. Then after that, they spent another 40 years wandering around in the wilderness, because they lost their Faith in who they were to God when it came time to claim their “Promised Land,” and the laws they were supposed to be following. If you don’t think 440 years of oppression and wilderness wandering isn’t a qualification for “epic historical Objective fails” then nothing is…..
How about everyone who was involved in Jesus Christ’s crucifixion? Would this not qualify for “having the wrong objectives or agendas?” I sure think so! Even after witnessing all of Christ’s amazing unheard of miracles, one after the other, His teachings and non-violent behavior, they still couldn’t see that He was/is who He said He was/is. That has also has to be a classic case of “epic historical Objective fails” too! Now in bringing it a little closer to home and to this day and age, what are YOUR “objectives” or “agendas” you live by everyday, and are they good or bad? Do you form an agenda or “objective” via kneejerk reactions, or are they carefully thought out? Kneejerk reaction based “Objectives or Agendas” usually result in bad or dangerously unpredictable when we become highly emotional about something. For example, you think someone did something wrong, bad or evil intentionally towards you that angers you, so you spend a good portion of time plotting on how to get them back, or to seek revenge on them in some way form or fashioned. Despite knowing beforehand, that God has made it very clear, that ALL vengeance (revenge, plotting, scheming, etc..) to avenge someone in anyway form or fashioned, is His, and His alone, yet we still are guilty of trying to do it anyways. Why is that? Is it really worth it in the end for that short term satisfaction, of THINKING you were successful in seeking revenge on someone, when you will more than likely be paid a visit at the hands of “Karma” paying you back for that act in some way form or fashion? And I would have to think that being a “Born Again Christian” would make it worse on us, because we are expected to know better! Having the wrong objectives in place can delay and maybe even hinder all-together your Blessings from the Lord did you know that? God has made it very clear to us also, that He is looking for people with no malice in their hearts! He wants Christians with a clean heart that loves everyone and willing to be servants! That is a very hard task to master at times when we feel someone has wronged us isn’t it? Ironically, the way it works more times than not, is that the person we were so sure of wronging us, really hadn’t intentionally wronged us at all. Then we end up having to not only deal with the fact that we were wrong about that person, but also the guilt of our revengeful act towards that person if we stooped that low. I learned that lesson a very long time ago about trying to seek revenge, and although I may get tempted from time to time still today, I DON’T act on it. It is very hard to have the mentality of “don’t try to seek revenge on that person, that’s God’s responsibility to punish them if they do wrong to me.” It will only come back on me in some way form or fashion,” but that is exactly the mentality I have had for years now. Can I leave you with a life changing question to ponder?
“Do an inventory of all YOUR current Objectives or “Agendas” you have active in your life right now, would God agree with them?” If the answer is “NO He Wouldn’t Agree With My Current (even future) Objectives,” then you have a major action to change them ASAP or suffer “Karma’s” consequences! Remember, you can’t serve God wholeheartedly and effectively and be mistreating people at the same time! It just doesn’t work that way in the Kingdom!
Will the REAL Church Folk Say AMEN?????
“Today, choose to “Ride or Die” with Jesus Christ 110%! Afterall, isn’t that EXACTLY what HE did for US on the CROSS???”
