Thought For Today – “Pigs Speak A Powerful Language, So Let The Pigs Tell ‘Em…”
Hello there again, by a show of virtual hands, how many of you reading this message right now partake of (eat) pork meat?” Come on now, I’m going somewhere with this LOL! You’re not in trouble, I just want to use your indulgence of it to make a point that’s all. So I ask again, “how many of my readers likes to eat pork, (Bacon, Ham, Pork Ribs, Hog Mogg, Tenderloin, Rinds, Pig feet, Tails, Ears, Tongues, Chitterlings, Liver, or Souse meat (aka the head) and as the actor John Witherspoon in the movie “Boomerang” with Eddie Murphy and Hallie Berry said,
“in the South, we eat everything on the pig from the Rooty to the Tooty”? LOL!! I have my hand up just for the record, because I indulge in small amounts of Bacon, Ham, and Pork ribs from time to time. It is with this train of thought, or line of thinking, that it was placed on my heart this morning to talk about, “Pigs Speak A Very Powerful Language, So Let The Pigs Tell ‘Em!” And AMEN goes right here! This one came to me as I was listening to another message in Pastor Ron Carpenter’s series entitled “Difficult People” (part #6). He used that phrase to give illustration of, if a person doesn’t appreciate when someone is treating them good or ever better than they have ever been treated before and is wanting to leave to go find something better, to let the “Pig” aka mean, evil, lowdown, game playing, using, heartbreaking type of folks out there in the world, will remind them of how good they had it with you but walked away from it if that is what they chose. He made one statement clear, “Never beg anyone to love you, stay with you, treat you like you deserve to be treated, or to be your friend, let em leave if they want to leave!” Now this is not just in the form of say marriages, or dating relationships either, it is in regards to anytype of relationship. Fake friends, family members, co-workers, acquaintances, etc…Sometimes people don’t realize, that the reason their associations, or relationships they are involved in (nomatter what kind it is) with certain people is strained or full of problems and issues, because it costs too much for the other person(s) to continue to be involved in that relationship with you because all you do is take, take, and take some more, and it’s a me, me, I, I, my, my need mentality. Pastor Carpenter used the analogy of it being like a saving account. “If all you do is take, take, take, and never deposit anything, sooner or later you will go to that account and it will tell you that the account is empty, you have insufficient funds in the account.” And then it will be too late. And AMEN once again goes right here!
Now if you would, please turn with me in your Bibles in the Old Testament to Leviticus 11:7. In this Biblical passage you will find the following words, “and the Pig, for though it divides the hoof, this making a split hoof, but it does not chew cud, it is unclean to you.” Now just for the record, “Cud” is defined as “a portion of food that returns from a ruminant’s (animal) stomach to the mouth to be chewed for a second time (cattle, deer, antelopes, gazelles, goats and sheep are examples of animals who do this). Now turn to Leviticus 11:27. In this passage, God forbids Moses and his followers to eat swine (aka pigs) “because it is unclean.” In Isaiah 65: 1-5, God says that He is not pleased with those who eat the flesh of Pigs. Of course with this being in the Old Testament, some people would argue that it is nolonger relevant with the NEW Covenant God made with us thought Jesus Christ. Also, in case you didn’t know, in folklore and popular culture, a cloven (aka split) hoof animal has long been associated with the Devil. I bet some of you didn’t know that did you? See, you learned something new today! LOL! I’m not saying it is true, just that is what some people believe. In the Bible, there are some stories or occurrences that come to mind in regards to pigs or swine that you might find pretty interesting. The first one that comes to mind, is the Prodigal’s Son (read Luke 15: 11-32v). It is a parable about a father that had two sons. He had done well for himself as a businessman and the inheritance his two sons would receive would be very lucrative. However, the youngest son one day decided as Pastor Carpenter stated, “that the cost of living under his father’s roof and rules were greater than the reward and he wanted to leave with his portion of his inheritance, despite his father still being alive. His father knew that his son did NOT need to leave, because he didn’t know enough about life and how to survive in the real world, to be able to survive in the world at his age, but he let him go regardless.” If you know the story, you know that it wasn’t long before the inheritance money had run out due to partying and taking care of all the friends he acquired when they realized he had wealth, and the younger son found himself broke, destitute and so hungry, that he ended up eating the very slop (food) that he was being paid to feed pigs, because he was out of the Will of God. It was at that moment in time, that he realized that even his father’s servants eat better than this and decided he would go back and work as a servant for his father just to survive. Of course, going back to the beginning of my message, to the part about “Pigs Speak A Very Powerful Language, So Let The Pigs Tell ‘Em…” those pigs spoke a very clear and powerful message to the Prodigals’ son that day. “Why would you eat slop with us, when you could go back to your father’s house and even as a servant eat better than most people, but especially us pigs?” And AMEN goes right here too!
The next Biblical example of “Pigs Speaking A Very Powerful Language” that comes to mind, is when the man from Gadara that was possessed and tormented by a legion (thousands) of demons (read Mark 5: 1-20 v). He had been living in or around the caves near the tombs on the outskirts of town, because no one would associate with him knowing he was possessed. He had unbelievable strength. The Bible states in the above verses, that no man could bind him nor was any chains strong enough to bind him. Pause, I feel the urge to insert here, that sometimes the people leaving your life are not leaving because of something YOU did, but because God removed them as their “season” to be in your life has ended, LET THEM LEAVE! Pastor Carpenter mentioned this as well in his message. The Bible says at night you could hear the possessed man crying, and he would cut himself with sharp stones leaving deep gashes on his body. Then Jesus came across the sea into the region of Gerasenes and the demon possessed man saw Him from afar and came running towards Him to worship Him. Pause…..some of you need to take notes from this man, because despite him being demon possessed, He still made it a point to run “towards” not away from Jesus and Worshipped Him! Now watch this, as he approached Jesus the demons knew exactly who Jesus Christ was! This is what the man said to Him, “What have I do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of the most high God? I adjure thee by God that thou torment me not.” It is believed that this was this man’s first encounter with Jesus and yet he knew exactly who Jesus was. It was the demons who really recognized Jesus in case you didn’t catch it! Jesus recognizing the man being possessed by demons spoke “Come out of the man, thou unclean spirit.” Then Jesus asked his name, “what is thy name?” The man answered, saying, “My name is Legion: for we are many.” They asked Jesus not to send them away from the country. Right here it gets really interesting, because just atop the mountains was a great heard of swine (aka Pigs feeding). The demons asked Jesus to send them into the swine that they may enter them. Jesus granted their request and the unclean spirits entered the swine. What happens next is just a testimony of how powerful Jesus Christ’s words are, the Bible says that the herd of swine ran “violently” down a steep place and into the sea (they were about two thousand) and were choked into the sea. That’s pig Latin for “they umm is dedd, aka shawk bait!” Okay, so you aren’t getting it are you? Okay here goes, once the demons were cast into the herd of pigs, the pigs told them to eradicate themselves from the earth in a very again “violent” way! And they obeyed and ran off a steep cliff into the sea! To sum this all up, God is going to send or allow good people to come into your life. Some for a season, and others for a lifetime. It is very imperative that you treat both types very well, and also that you appreciate them. The ones who are meant to be there for a lifetime should be made a very high priority on your list of who to take care of, or to treat very well and right, because the Blessings they bring to your life over time, will only be revealed if you do. It is very imperative that you appreciate them to the fullest, because if you don’t, “Pigs Speak A Very Powerful Language,” and you will end up hearing and living what they have to say to you if you don’t. Every relationship has a reward and a price tag. No relationship is all “reward,” and if you go into any of your relationships with that mentality, you will ruin that relationship sooner or later. Make it a point to first recognize your relationships as being “short term or seasonal,” and treat it as such, or longterm or forever ones and also treat those as such too. Can I leave you with a question to ponder today if I may???
“Are the Pigs Speaking To You Right Now?” Can I get an AMEN??
“Today, choose to “Ride or Die” with Jesus Christ 110%! Afterall, isn’t that EXACTLY what HE did for US on the Cross??”
