The Third Eye Perspective:
By Carlos C. Brown
Thought For Today – “You Need To CUT IT!”
Good morning Saints! How are you doing this morning, good and very Blessed I hope? I have said multiple times, that I get my subject titles from some of the most random everyday things. Today’s subject is no different either. After hearing this rap song “You Need To Cut It…” on just about every radio station I turn to that plays Hip Hop, or R&B music, the hook (“You Need To Cut It”) has literally gotten stuck in my head. I’m not a big fan of the song, because it talks about selling drugs and a few other things I don’t agree with or believe in. But I do like me some Hip Hop beats and even some songs when they have good positive and meaningful messages. But the more I heard that song, and the more it stuck in my head, the more I got to thinking it was in my head for good reason. It was a good “Third Eye Perspective Thought For Today” subject. It is with this train of thought, or line of thinking, that it was placed on my heart this morning to talk about, “You Need To CUT IT!” And AMEN goes right here! Can you see were I’m about to go with this? Well it should be very obvious, “cutting things out of your life that isn’t healthy for you,” like BAD behaviors. Take myself for example, I have put myself on a diet like I normally try to do every year during the spring time and then again in the fall. In order for me to be successful in losing the weight I would like to lose, I have to discipline myself in “cutting out” some foods that are not healthy for me to be eating. However, that is something easier said than done LOL! I don’t usually eat a lot of unhealthy foods persay anyway, no my problem is “portion control”. Hmmmmnnnnn I might have just gotten tomorrow’s “Thought For Today” (Portion Control) LOL! My Mother “Momma G.” and Grandmother “Muddea” were such great cooks, that I would literally try to gorge myself everytime they cooked something because it was prepared with such perfection and care! I would be miserable afterwards, but it was worth it everytime! However today, I’m going to focus on “You Need To Cut It…” And again, AMEN goes right here too!
Do me a favor, pretend like there is a huge mirror in front of you right now. No, No, No, not to see if you are overweight, ugly, to look at any flaws you might have in your physical appearance or anything involving physical appearance. No, this time I’m going somewhere different with this deal. As you look in that make believe mirror (a real one if you have one handy right now), take inventory of every single behavior you have engaged in lately or on a consistent basis, both bad and good. Now the key to this is being totally and completely HONEST with yourself! This will NOT work if you aren’t completely honest. The purpose of the mirror, is for you to symbolize you having a talk with yourself. Being able to look at your own self in the eyes and basically hold yourself accountable for what the exercise is asking you to do. Now, let’s just focus on the bad behaviors. And be totally honest with yourself, because if you don’t, you are not hurting anyone but yourself! Now look yourself dead in the eyes, come on now, some of you are already squinting and looking every which way EXCEPT in your eyes LOL! Seriously, keep looking yourself squarely, and directly in the eyes and ask this question, “are my bad behaviors displeasing or offensive to God or anyone else for that matter?” If you know the answer is an overwhelming “YES THEY ARE,” then “YOU NEED TO CUT IT…” And I’m sure there’s not a person walking this earth right now, who can honestly (key word here being “HONESTLY”) say, that they don’t have any bad behaviors that need to be “CUT”. I sure do, and just for YOUR information, I AM working daily on doing just that! I might not be working at YOUR pace, but I AM working on it. It is a proven fact Biblically speaking, that your behavior can dictate what type of life you can have. If you sow (aka plant) good or positive behavioral seeds, you will reap good and or “positive” results or things as a result in life. However, the flip side to that, is that if you constantly plant bad or negative seeds, that is exactly what you will reap! We all know one person we’ve come across, whose behavior is so foul that it makes it hard to be around them for any length of time doesn’t it? They complain about everything, lie, cheat and steal, and always look for the negative in everything, and is constantly caught up in drama , confusion, and chaos just seems to follow them around like a dark thunder cloud? That is a good indicator that that behavior is a direct result of what they have sown for a long period of time, or even continuing to sow. Simply put, “They Need To CUT IT!” And AMEN goes right here as well!
Here are a few Biblical verses about BAD behavior: (1 Kings 16:30) –“Ahab the son of Omri did evil in the sight of the Lord more than all who were before him.” (Genesis 6:5) – “Then the Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great on earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.” (2 Timothy 4:14) – “Alexander the coppersmith did me much harm; the Lord will repay him according to his deeds.” (Proverbs 12:2) – “A good man will obtain favor from the Lord, but He will condemn a man who devises evil.” Now for a verse speaking about GOOD behavior Deuteronomy 5:16) – “Honor your father and your mother, as the LORD your God has commanded you, that your days may be prolonged, and that it may go well with you on the land which the LORD your God gives you.” As discussed in my “Thought For Today” about “R-E-S-P-E-C-T,” 100% of all bad behaviors that need to be “Cut Out” of every person’s life, started with our upbringing. You can use the excuse that you didn’t know any better when you were an adolescent child, but not so much so when you hit adulthood. And once you reach a certain age in life, like your teenage years, you become responsible for your own behavior. If you are one of those who have no desire to cut out your bad behaviors, for whatever reason, there will be serious consequences that you will suffer, both legally and Spiritually. The biggest “You need to cut it….out” bad behavior, that most Christians need to stop right now, is “FENCE STRADDLING.” In other words, trying to decide whether or not to completely follow Jesus Christ’s way of living. Stop with the stupid thinking that once you become Saved, you can’t have any fun in life. That preposterous way of thinking right there, stops more people from becoming, or staying Saved, than probably anything else in the world. And it is very dangerous thinking too! Because those people with that mentality, will make the assumption, that they’ll have plenty of time to get Saved when they are done having all of the unadulterated fun they want to have, without their conscience getting the best of them. That is because they know what they are doing is wrong in the eyes of the Lord God in Heaven! Remember, “Tomorrow is NOT promised to anyone.” You know that you have bad behaviors in your life that need to be “CUT” out right now. So stop making excuses, or dragging out the inevitable, “You Need To Cut It…Out” right now! Can I leave you with a question to ponder if I may?
“If your bad behavior is negatively affecting not only your life, but the life of others’ around you, do you have the will power to “cut it….out”???? If the answer is “NO”, then ask God to give you the strength to help you do it!
Can I get an AMEN?????
“Today, choose to “Ride or Die” with Jesus Christ! Afterall, isn’t that exactly what HE did for us on the Cross?”
