The Third Eye Perspective:
By Carlos C. Brown
Thought For Today – “Is Your Tree Bearing Any Fruit?”
Turn with me if you will to the books of Luke 13: 6-9, Mark 11: 12-20 verses. If you are familiar with these passages of Scripture, you know that they deal with the parable of the fig tree. To summarize for the sake of space in this email, a certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard. Jesus came upon the fig tree as they were leaving the town of Bethany. He was hungry and seeing the fig tree in a distance he went towards it hoping to find figs on it to eat. When He got up close to the tree, He came to realize that the fig tree bore no fruit. Jesus was very disappointed in that the tree had not bore any fruit, and He cursed it. He told the dresser (keeper of the vineyard) “Behold, these three years I have come seeking fruit on this fig tree, and find none: CUT IT DOWN; why cumbereth it the ground. No man eat fruit of thee hereafter for ever.” The dresser answering Jesus said unto Him, “Lord, let it alone THIS YEAR also, till I shall dig about it (cultivate) and dung it (put some fertilizer aka animal poop LOL around it). And if it bear fruit, well: and if not, then after that thou shalt cut it down.” May the Lord add a Blessing to the reader, writer, and sharer of His Holy Word! It is with that train of thought, or line of thinking, that it was placed on my heart this morning to talk about, ”Is Your Tree Bearing Any Fruit?” And AMEN goes right here! I could literally stop this message right here, because that right there would Preach all day long and twice on Sunday’s as Pastor Ron Carpenter would say! Now as you may or may not know, all throughout the Bible God uses figurative speaking to get His messages across. He uses agriculture, fishermen, as symbols to try and get you to understand the message of the Kingdom of Heaven. Because for some, maybe even most, it would be too much for you to understand unless you became a Biblical or Spiritual scholar. In other words, God breaks His Holy Word down to a level where the average person could understand it, but also still symbolic enough that you have to research and study to get the full meaning. Jesus got tired of all the people who showed up only to see, hear, or witness His great miracles of healing, free food, etc….He wanted people around Him who were eager or hungry for the Word not just the miracles. If you know this story, then you know that a lot of people stopped following Him around once He cut off all the “free stuff.” And AMEN goes right here too!
Okay, okay, okay, getting back to my message for today. How would YOU interpret the parable above in reference to YOUR life? Come on, anybody……….anybody? No takers huh? Surely there are some people out in “The Third Eye Perspective” land that studies their Bibles and know what the real meaning behind this parable is??? Wait, I see a hand that reluctantly was raised up in my virtual audience…..can you tell me what it means? “I believe it means that God has blessed each of us with a special gift, that is to be used for the advancement of the Kingdom of Heaven. He has given you all of the necessities needed for that gift to manifest, grow, bloom, blossom, and be successful. However, He expects us to use it not only to better our individual lives, and maybe even our family’s lives, but also to us it for the Kingdom. Last but not least, just like in the parable, He will at some point in time, come down and personally check on His investment in your gift to see if you are using it to its maximum potential and for the right reasons. As you can see in the Biblical parable, He can and will become very disappointed if we are not using out gift or “anointing” to do something worthwhile for the Kingdom of Heaven. He might even decide to “cut you down” like the tree in the parable. Don’t believe me, ask all the people in the time of Noah when God sent the great flood to destroy the entire earth’s population. Still don’t believe me, ask the people of Sodom and Gomorrah when He became disgusted with them and their behavior! However, we should be very thankful that we have Grace and Mercy on our side. You see, in this story or “parable” I believe that is exactly what happen there. I believe Grace and Mercy stepped in and said “Lord, let it alone THIS YEAR also, till I shall dig about it (cultivate) and dung it (put some fertilizer aka animal poop LOL around it). And if it bear fruit, well: and if not, then after that thou shalt cut it down.” In other words, “Lord, leave Carlos alone for a little while longer. I believe that if you would just allow me some time with him, I can shape and mold him into someone that can be a HUGE asset to the Kingdom of Heaven. I know he has been making mistakes, one after the other, I know he strays away from you at times out of frustration, deflation, fatigue from seeing one loss after another. But I have faith in him that if you would just allow me to send a victory or two here and there his way, that he will be a champion for You and the Kingdom of Heaven! Will you leave him alone for a while longer Lord, and come back and check on him after I have had time to cultivate (stir up), add some additional fertilizer (Blessings, and battle victories) the soil around him, that he would bear MUCH fruit Lord! And if he doesn’t manifest “GOOD” fruit after that Lord, then you can CUT HIM DOWN.” Thank you so much for that analogy, you are spot on in what that parable is saying! You may be seated and may God Bless you all the days of your life! And AMEN goes right here too!
In closing, we all, each and every person reading this needs to look ourselves in the mirror, and ask this very simply but Heavenly powerful question……….Is MY Tree Bearing Any Good Fruit?” The reason I added the word “Good” to it, was because not all fruit is “good” fruit! I am sure you have seen people who had incredible God given gifts, talents, abilities, that they are allowing to go to waste. God WILL come down one day and check on each and every one of our special gifts He blessed us with while we were still in our mother’s wombs. I know that my gift without a shadow of a doubt is a gift of creativity, in speech, in writing, and even thinking. I have been using my gift for the Kingdom for the last 18 years in writing and sharing God’s Holy Word with the masses. But my work is nowhere near done yet, I have more, so much more work to do for the Kingdom of Heaven and can’t get comfortable in my effort. I don’t want nor need any pats on the back, because God gets all of the Glory for my gifts, accomplishments, and my successes. I urge you from the bottom of my heart and Soul, STOP wasting the gifts that God has Blessed you with and start to perfect them for the Kingdom of Heaven! If you don’t know what your gift is, Pray to God to reveal it to you and tell you how to best use it to Glorify Him! That’s all God wants, and in return, He will Bless you beyond your wildest dreams with the things your heart desires. The key is and always have been, “as long as you use those Blessings to Glorify Him somehow! Have a very BLESSED Friday and Weekend too!
“Today, chose to “Ride or Die” with Jesus Christ (MY LORD AND SAVIOR)! Afterall, isn’t that exactly what He did for us on the Cross?”
