Thought For Today – “The Flesh Is NOT As “Tasty” As You Might Think….”
Here is another one of those “Thought for Today’s,” that just makes me shake my head in that it is so thought provoking! Now, just reading the title one might think, “what flesh is he talking about not being tasty?” Afterall, chicken is flesh and it is real tasty. Beef is flesh too and it too is very tasty depending on how you prepare it? Fish and other wild game is also very tasty flesh too, again depending on how you prepare it? So what exactly kind of “flesh” is he talking about, that might not be as “tasty” as I/we might think???” It is with this train of thought, or line of thinking, that it was placed on my heart this morning to talk about, “The Flesh Is NOT as “Tasty” As You Might Think….” And AMEN goes right here!!! Once again, I am thinking outside the box, in my “Third Eye Perspective” point of view! Whether we realize it or not, pretty much everything the human race does, what we think, feel, see, and our actions are a direct result of “fleshy appetites.” Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, I feel some of you looking kinda puzzled and others who have a look of a “mule about to kick” on their face, so I’ll explain! LOL! After the downfall in the Garden of Eden by Adam and Eve, we (humanity) have been to an extent if you will “cursed” to live in the “flesh.” Meaning, that our “appetites” control our thoughts, and our thoughts control our actions. Still don’t get it huh??? Well how about this, Cain slew his brother Abel, because of jealousy, when God showed Abel favor after Abel offered God the “firstlings” of his first crop? “Jealousy,” is a “fleshy” appetite whether you realize it or not? All the people who were washed away, or drowned, by the great flood of 40 days and 40 nights, were living in the “flesh,” so much to the point that it angered God enough to destroy every single one of them except for Noah and his family? When we live in the “flesh” or with a “worldly” mentality, our Spiritual boundaries become blurred. Things we know are wrong without a shadow of a doubt, we will find excuses to justify indulging in them. One thing to remember about “flesh,” if left unattended out in the open it will rot or spoil! Some of you didn’t connect the dots on that one did you? Try chewing on it this way, “if you leave your Soul, Morals, and Character unattended, the elements and environment they were exposed to will corrupt or “rot” it. And AMEN goes right here!
Let us not forget “Sodom and Gomorrah,” because of everyone (except for Lot and his family) who were living in complete sin and indulging in “fleshy appetites,” God became fed up with them and decided to destroy the whole entire two cities. And despite God allowing Lot and his family to escape the impending wrath of destruction, God only had one catch for Lot and his family; “when you escape the city, nomatter what you hear going on, DON’T LOOK BACK!!!!” Sounds pretty simple doesn’t it? Yet Lots wife did just that, and was immediately turned into a pillar of salt. The assumption behind that disobedience according to Biblical scholars, was she couldn’t help but be tempted to take one last glance at her old “fleshy appetite” life. By definition, “flesh,” is anything “worldly” that controls your mind and your actions (Drugs, Envy, Jealousy, Hatred, Lust, Money, Materialistic, Sin, etc..) that is not Godly. If it is something that is subject to control you, and you cannot resist it nomatter how hard you try, even knowing it is not Godly, then it falls under the “flesh” category. These and other flesh appetites have caused a lot of people in the public eye to fall from grace, after they gave into their desires. The good thing about God, is that He is a God of second, third, fourth, and fifth chances! He knows we are full of sin, but yet is more than willing to forgive us for our offenses, especially when there is a sincere effort to change from our old ways. The Bible says in Matthew 18:22 to be exact, that God will forgive us 70 x 7 times everyday, if we ask for Him forgiveness! Those words came straight from Jesus’ mouth, so you know it is true, because Jesus Christ aka God, is NOT capable of lying! Why would you not take advantage of this option of forgiveness, when it is sitting right there for each and everyone of us for the taking?? That is a lot of forgiving in one day people! Now the flip side to that is this, it (the forgiving 70 x 7 times a day) only works IF you sincerely try to change your ways, and not do the same offense over and over again. Asking for forgiveness for the same offense over and over, will not show God that you are being sincere in your asking for forgiveness. Why is it so hard for us to realize how good God is to and more importantly FOR us? Most people can’t even forgive someone ONCE in a week, month, and in some cases years, let alone 70 x 7 times in a day when they cross them! Yet God does it without even thinking if you just ask Him!
Getting back to the subject heading of my “Thought for today,” so many people fall by the waste side for allowing their appetites to control them. It is just a part of the human nature to sin, and even to have weaknesses or cravings of the “flesh” that we know are against the principals of our walk with Jesus Christ. God knows that nomatter how hard we try, we are still going to experience “failure moments,” when we give into those “fleshly cravings” and indulge ourselves. However, that is NOT a good or legitimate reason to go completely “A.W.O.L” or “M.I.A” on a “flesh” eating binge! LOL! I’m sorry, but God isn’t going to buy that excuse that just because you “fell off the wagon” in a moment of weakness, that it justified you committing the same offense over and over again! The effort has to be sincere and just in our rise back to redemption, or it will just be written off as an ill attempt. Unlike the old saying with our words, we don’t need to “taste our appetites,” before we speak them or in this case, “indulge” in them. Everyone of the Christian Faith, has heard of, seen, read, or been made aware, of the existence and importance of the 10 Commandments God handed down for use as a model of laws to live by, am I right? They cannot be altered nor tweaked, bent, nor changed, and especially not ignored! Again, IF you want to make it to Heaven, you have make a valiant effort to live by those Commandments! God doesn’t expect us to be perfect, however He does expect us to put forth a very sincere effort to strive for perfection. One of the hardest things to do for any human being, is successfully control, but more importantly resist their “Fleshly Appetites” without God’s help! If you think you are strong enough to resist them on your own, then you are totally delusional, sadly mistaken, “shawt bus” special, etc… because that is just not possible! The only way to control them is to dive DEEP into God’s Holy Word, and keep it fresh in your mind at all times. That is the only proven method in existence today, and ironically it is the same, VERY SAME method as what was used back in Jesus’ day! How ironic is that? There have been men who have debated, declared, and even insisted that the 10 Commandments and even in cases the Bible itself is “outdated” and or not relevant in today’s day and age! Don’t be fooled nor misled, the Bible says that God’s word “is the same today as it was yesterday, and it won’t change” (read Hebrews 13:8). If the Bible says it, I BELIEVE IT! Can I leave you with a “Life Changing Question”????
“How “tasty” is that “flesh” to you now???? Can I get an AMEN???
Can I get an Amen???
“Today, Choose to “Ride or Die” With Jesus Christ! Afterall, isn’t that EXACTLY what He did for us on the Cross at Calvary?”
