Good Morning Peeps! How are you doing this Tuesday morning, good I hope? Are you having a good start to your work week, I sure hope so? I also hope that you have a good and very Blessed day and rest of your work week too! - May God Bless You and Yours In 2018 and Beyond!!! - “Are YOU 100% sure, that you are Saved and headed to Heaven when you die? Are you sure YOUR name IS written in the Heavenly “Book of Life?” Is there absolutely not a shadow of a doubt in your mind, that your Salvation is already secured and you’re just waiting on the good Lord to call you home to be with Him? If the answer is “No, Not Sure, I Think So, Maybe, or Probably, then you need to get busy right now working on fixing that. Thought For Today – “Discouraged But Not Defeated.”
Hello again peeps! By a show of virtual hands, how many of you are discouraged right now? WOW!!! That is a lot of hands in the air! It must be that time of year or something, I don’t know? There is no worse feeling (to me at least) than being so discouraged that you feel like the whole world is against you is there? I’m talking about when everything you try to do nomatter how big or how small just simply backfires or blows up in your face. I don’t know how or what inspired this one today, I really don’t. My life as of this minute is going pretty well actually. My health is good with the exception of my back from my recent auto accident but even it is not as bad as it was, I have food on my table, and clothes on my back, a new roof over my head. Now I’m not “rich” by any means LOL, but I’m doing better than a lot of people that I know, so I’ll take that as me being blessed. My son Dawson is doing well in school, and in life and seems to be very happy and content. For those of you who doesn’t have Facebook, or are not Facebook friends with me, he was in the newly released movie “God is not dead III.” He was so excited that his parts didn’t get edited out. Now he doesn’t have any speaking parts, he was one of the chosen extras to be in the movie. However, I know some people personally who are at their wits end. And when you feel you are at your wits end, it makes you start to second guess everything you think about doing! From that point on, as your fear of failure starts to consume and dominate your entire mental capacity. The worse part about going thru a time period like this, is that a lot of times you can’t seem to find the answer to your million dollar question……..”why me”? Of course common sense tells you that you are not the only person going thru a storm of discouragement or defeat, some people are even going thru storms bigger than yours that you may even know personally. It is easy to explain the “why me” if you are not living right, but sometimes even when you are living right, you are not exempt from the type of storms that leave you so discouraged that you want to throw your hands up in the air and shout to the world “I give up, or I quit”…
Storms of Discouragement and Defeat are nothing new. They have been plaguing people from the beginning of time. And believe it or not, the storm you are currently facing, someone has faced one twice as bad and survived. The type of storms that brings you to the brink of quitting or giving up, are ones that you have to pay very close attention to while they are raging. There is a lot to be learned from the particular storms you are experiencing. Storms are some of our biggest teachers whether we welcome it or try to avoid them altogether. God will sometimes allow some storms to rage in our lives to shape, mold or grow us somehow into a better person. Yes, I know you aren’t wanting to hear that kinda of talk right now. You want answers to the “why” you have to go thru storms in the first place! Well here is the best answer I can give you, it is just an aspect of life! Even if the storm is meant to teach you something, or grow you in some way form or fashioned, there is always something positive you can pull from a storm. I know I have had some where I Prayed hard and sincerely, but the storm kept raging anyways. However, I had a certain level of peace and calm that came over me and helped me to shift my focus off of the storm, and onto my God! And believe it or not, that’s all God wants us to do, is trust Him that He would never leave nor forsake you during your storms. You tend to spend more and more time reflecting back over the past recent time periods before the storm started in your life, trying to see if you can figure out what might have provoked it, or what it might be a result of. But as I said above, sometimes there are no rhyme or reason for your storm that you can come up with as an explanation to justify it. You know in your heard that you are supposed to learn something from it and even that can be a challenge when you can’t explain why the storm started in the first place. That feeling of uncertainty and compounds the frustration and discouragement, because you become consumed with trying to dissect the storms meaning that you can’t focus on anything else, especially like Praising, Honoring, and Glorifying God.
Think about the storm Job endured? He lost is house, all of his children at one time, all of his assets, and yet he still praised God. And as the Christian process is designed, that’s exactly what you should do in that moment in time, praising and worshipping God. Why you ask? Because when you take your focus off of your storm and place it on God you let God (an your storm ironically) that you have total and complete Faith that #1. Your storm is NOT bigger than your God. #2. That despite not knowing what you did if anything, that resulted in the storm in the first place and despite not realizing what you are supposed to learn from it, you will allow your patience and character to remain the same. #3. Last but most certainly not least, by focusing on God, by Praising Him you let him know that you will remain loyal and focused on Him nomatter what your circumstances. Not everyone will take this route when they find themselves in a storm. They know they should, because the Bible tells them to. But when it actually comes down to it they don’t because they either don’t have mustard seed Faith that it will do any good due to past experiences, or they expect an immediate response from God and well sometimes that just isn’t the way it goes down. Not saying that it can’t, or won’t happen that quickly, but just saying that maybe God wanted you to have to endure that particular storm long enough for you to see the lesson to be learned or to build your Faith level up higher. At the very least, just knowing that you were able to focus on God as opposed to your storm should make you feel better about it because even for that brief period of time, you were not concerned with how bad your storm was. It is easy to get discouraged enough, to want to give up or give in and quit, persevering thru it however is a lot harder to do, but the end result will make you stronger. Can I leave you with a question to ponder today if I may?
“What are you focused on during your storms?” Can I get an Amen????
“Today, choose to “Ride or Die” with Jesus Christ! Afterall, isn’t that EXACTLY what He did for us on the Cross at Calvary?”
